What is the plot of Helldivers 2?

The plot of Helldivers 2 is set in a distant future where Super-Earth has triumphed over all and is spreading democracy across the universe. To finally subdue the stubborn and uncomprehending Terminid bugs and "socialist" Automaton cyborgs, special soldiers (you) are sent to their planets for complete eradication. The game is based on the film "Starship Troopers," with its absurd premise taken to the extreme here. As a player, you land on a designated planet in a new sector and complete missions to contribute to the overall victory of democracy.
