It's no secret that the very existence of the Xbox Series S frustrates many developers. However, some use the hardware limitations to their advantage—for game optimization.
Previously, the developers of STALKER 2: Heart of Chornobyl mentioned that they had to optimize everything to the maximum to get the game running on Microsoft's lower-end console. In a recent podcast, Tobias Stolz-Zwilling, PR manager at Warhorse Studios, shared similar experiences while discussing the optimization of Kingdom Come: Deliverance II.
Due to the need to reduce resource usage, apply creative programming solutions, and optimize memory management, improving performance on the Xbox Series S also had a positive effect on other systems.
Initially, Warhorse planned for the RPG to run at only 30 FPS on consoles. However, things changed when Sony announced the PS5 Pro, which outperforms the standard version. The studio began testing and ultimately managed to create an additional graphics preset, achieving 60 FPS on other devices.
