It's time to embark on an unforgettable journey in a massive truck through the narrow streets of Europe. Boost your mood and finally transport those apples from Poland.

However, to make the road adventure more interesting and even more realistic, we recommend downloading several excellent mods for Euro Truck Simulator 2. Fasten your seatbelts and start the engine in your truck — we're off!

Winter Weather

This is the third mod I downloaded. Why third? Because there are two other essential enhancements without which I can't imagine my ETS2 experience.

If you're tired of summer streets and landscapes, you can fix that with the Frosty Winter Weather Mod. It changes not only the overall setting but also the weather: snowfalls, fogs, earlier darkness, later dawn, and braking becomes more challenging due to slipperiness. Just like in real life.

There's an indescribable feeling when your headlights pierce the cozy winter darkness, revealing the snow-covered surroundings. The cabin is warm and snug, while outside it's freezing, and a cat sleeps in the adjacent seat. Wait, where did the cat come from? Let's move on to the next mod.

SiS’L Mega Pack

This is the enhancement I download first, allowing players to add a girl, guy, dog, or cat to the adjacent seat. You can decorate your truck with a wide variety of options, especially for the cabin, including cool lights and small items like a coffee mug or a Christmas tree.

You can also set up a small sleeping area by adding a blanket. It's a minor detail, but it adds much more coziness. Now, the cabin won't look perfectly clean and tidy because a bit of chaos will appear. Don’t worry about the game version specified on the website — I have the latest version, and the SiS’L Mega Pack works wonderfully there.

This mod pairs best with the DAF XF 105 truck, which we'll discuss below.

Truck DAF XF 105

This is the second mod I always download because I'm in love with this truck. After hard work for my uncle, I want to acquire something good, reliable, and good-looking. The DAF XF 105 fits all these criteria.

The revamped truck offers more tuning options, various chassis and cabin choices, skins, partial paint support, and more. It's a conveniently manageable vehicle that's perfect for starting out.

Realistic Physics

Next, we need to make the gameplay more realistic so that the truck feels better. In short, the truck becomes like a real one: it has weight, the cabin sways more believably, the suspension performance is improved, and in rainy weather, the chance of skidding and accidents increases due to slipping.

However, there's one caveat: the mod won't work on some downloaded trucks.

Rain Sounds

Rain Sounds ETS2Image: ets2modworld.com

Now we need to add more atmosphere to the game, agree? The wonderful Realistic Rain & Thunder Sounds mod will help us with that. Driving in the rain becomes much more interesting and enjoyable with the accompanying sounds of rain and thunder, cool effects, and realistic downpours. Even the water looks much better.

But what I like most about this mod is the raindrops splashing from under the wheels. It immerses me — and surely many other players — deeper into the life of a trucker.

Enhanced Sounds

Enhanced Sounds ETS2Image: allmods.net

Since we're talking about sounds, it's time to introduce one of the coolest mods that fix them. It adds more realism and atmosphere by changing the following sounds:

  • nature sounds;
  • truck engine sounds;
  • various animated objects, like the gear lever;
  • tire sounds;
  • traffic vehicle sounds.

I really enjoy driving at night and listening to how loudly my engine roars.

Radio

Radio ETS2Image: modsats.com

I can't imagine my game without the radio. How can you drive thousands of kilometers without music? The convenience is that you don't need to open a browser or rummage through your phone. Moreover, the music sounds blend pleasantly with the engine noise. Singing along to your favorite song makes the drive much more enjoyable.

Traffic

Traffic ETS2Image: youtube.com

It's time to add some variety to the road with the AI Traffic Pack mod. After installing the mod, you'll encounter over 500 new cars on the road, including models like the VW Passat B5, Dacia Logan, Subaru Impreza, and more.

Additionally, the game will feature:

  • Car trailers;
  • Police cars in several countries;
  • Skins and 3D logos.

Enhanced Grass

Let's continue enhancing the scenery. If you're tired of snow and want to remove the mod associated with it, we recommend installing the enhanced grass mod, which looks much more realistic than the default. I also suggest downloading the tree improvement addon, which adds even more aesthetic appeal to the overall picture.

Truck Volvo VNL670

Another cool truck in our selection, your adventures with it will surely remain unforgettable. It vaguely resembles an American truck model. However, it is still a Swedish model that is quite convenient to drive through the narrow European streets.

You don't necessarily have to meticulously save money to try the truck because you can drive it by taking orders through an agency. This way, you'll quickly decide whether it's worth acquiring in the future.

Truck Volvo FH 2012 RPIE

Another Volvo that personally thrilled me immensely. Actually, I prefer Mercedes in ETS2, but this mod made me see Volvo differently. Smooth driving, comfort felt through the screen, monitors instead of mirrors for convenience, and a camera installed in the cabin that streams the view to these monitors.

The truck also looks very stylish. It offers 230 skins (if you have all DLCs installed), 4 interiors, original accessories, and much more.

However, it replaces the stock version and may conflict with other mods for this truck brand.

Enhanced Lighting for All Vehicles

Enhanced Lighting for All Vehicles ETS2Image: stmods.org

All trucks and cars receive realistic lighting. Additionally, streetlights begin to illuminate differently. Honestly, I can no longer play with the default lighting after installing this mod.

What the mod offers:

  • new realistic flare light (glowing elements);
  • brighter colored lights;
  • realistic lighting ranges;
  • realistic reflection effects for these lights;
  • headlight reflections;
  • LED light reflections;
  • roof light reflections;
  • compatibility with all trucks.

Early Autumn

Early Autumn ETS2Image: grimesmods.wordpress.com

Another seasonal mod that I really like. I love early autumn and want to see it in one of my favorite games. The landscape becomes beautiful and golden, impossible to look away from (one of the reasons why I get into accidents).

There will be no more storms, and there will be much fewer leaves on the trees. Just like in real life. It looks especially beautiful at sunset, so I recommend installing the Early Autumn Weather Mod.

Additional Lighting for the Truck (Multi-Mod)

A whole set of mods for additional lighting. If you want your truck to sparkle like a Christmas tree, this set is indispensable. The mix of lights looks especially cool at night. Other drivers will definitely be amazed by the dazzling beauty!

Coca-Cola Skin

Coca-Cola Skin ETS2Image: steamcommunity.com

As of writing this article, Christmas is just around the corner, so I want to bring this magnificent holiday closer. Coca-Cola is always associated with it for me, so I install this skin along with the winter mod.

I decorate my truck with the Coca-Cola skin, install many bright lights, turn on the radio inside the cabin, and enjoy cozy drives, thinking about decorating the Christmas tree and buying gifts for friends and family soon.

With this pleasant note, I'm ending my selection of mods for ETS2. What mods would you recommend? Leave your answers in the comments.
