The number of cheaters in Call of Duty: Warzone surged dramatically at the end of July 2024, causing players to complain. According to their feedback, the influx of cheaters has made the online shooter practically unplayable.
This wave of cheaters occurred after Microsoft added Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III to Game Pass, allowing players to launch Warzone through the Microsoft Store. Due to a glitch, the system identifies these players as Xbox users, so the Ricochet anti-cheat system fails to detect them.
Cheaters from the July wave are often marked with an Xbox icon in the lobby. This further indicates that the cheaters are launching Warzone through the Microsoft Store, remaining undetected by the anti-cheat system.
One player reported encountering five different cheaters in one evening. According to them, they hardly played a single normal match as they constantly faced cheaters.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III was added to the Game Pass catalog on July 24. The shooter became the first installment of the series to be available on Microsoft's subscription service.
