T1 - LoL Team

South Korean SK Telecom LoL department was founded in 2014 February. The initial roster was already in the works since 2013 February, where Faker, bengi, PIglet, PoohManDu and Impact would play. Starting their run in LoL Masters 2014, SK Telecom K showed impressive stats, with 6:0 record in round robin stage. Reaching the finals, they lost to Samsung.

Later on, they managed to win All-Star Paris 2014. After this event, the new rules would not let SK Telecom have multiple rosters of the same discipline, so they had to compete only under the tag of SK Telecom T1. However, it should be noted that SKT T1 was allowed to have a roster of up to 10 members. SKT T1 participated in the Mid-Season Invitational 2015 tournament, placing second after a 3:2 defeat from EDward Gaming.

2015 was also notable with SKT T1’s win in the World Championship. The success continued next year with the Spring Split top placement. The latter earned them a spot at Mid-Season Invitational 2016. This time the MSI Cup was theirs.

The unstoppable run continued in the 2016 World Championship too, where they took their third consecutive Worlds title and became the first team ever to do so.

In 2017 SK Telecom T1 were the runners-up for the World Series. 2018 became the year of adjustments that did not particularly work out. However, in 2019 they managed to win LCK Spring 2019, defeating Griffin in the finals with a clean 3:0. It was also the start of 2019 when SK Telecom T1 was renamed simply to T1.

Again, the pandemic brought lots of troubles for T1 and they could not find their play neither in 2020, nor in 2021. However, the progress was noticeable.

T1’s most prolific year was the start of 2022, when the team stayed undefeated over 26 games. Unfortunately, after winning LCK Spring, they did not do well in MSI 2022, losing to RNG Esports in the finals of the event.
