In Palworld, sooner or later, you'll want to craft weapons for yourself and your Pals. For this, you'll need High Quality Pal — a key resource for success. By the time you start crafting your first weapon, this valuable component should already be in your base's chests in small quantities. However, advanced production will require a lot of oil! In this guide, we explained why High Quality Pal is needed and where to find it.
Why High Quality Pal Oil is Needed

Starting from level 20 of your character, High Quality Pal becomes necessary for many crafting recipes:
- Creating firearms: At level 21, crafting your first musket will require 5 units of oil.
- Creating weapon production lines and cauldrons for potions at level 32, as well as for polymer production at level 33, this will allow you to make crafting conveyor-like.
- Manufacturing accessories for Pals. For example, creating grenade launchers for Mossanda is impossible without oil.

Without this resource, you will not be able to create certain types of weapons that are crucial for victory over dungeon bosses, mercenaries, poachers, and strong Pals in the wild zones at the edge of the map.
Where to Find High Quality Pal
You can obtain High Quality Pal in two ways: buy it from merchants or gather it from Pals. Gathering oil directly from Pals is a more cheap option, considering that this resource drops from most beasts after they are defeated.
To efficiently gather oil, you can:
- Explore the starting areas. Pals levels 10-15 make an excellent choice. For example, Relaxaurus and Woolipop often become targets in players' hunt for oil. Open as many teleportation points as possible for more mobility.
- Upgrade your character's ability to carry more weight, aiming for about 500-600 units of weight. This should be enough to collect a significant amount of resources in one go.
- Participate in raids: your camp may be attacked by Relaxaurus. During such moments, the chances of getting oil increase significantly!
- Buy from merchants: oil can be purchased for 300 gold coins from a merchant in the Fishermen's Village on the west side of the map.
