Pokémon Presents 2025, held on February 27, once again delighted fans with a host of exciting news. Unexpected announcements, details about the upcoming Pokémon Legends: Z-A, new fighters in beloved games, updates on the franchise’s TV series, and events across various titles — all of this was covered.

This article gathers the most important reveals from the presentation.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A

Game Freak shared a bit more information about their new game. The chat during the trailer showcase was buzzing — people were shocked, thrilled, and amazed.

We finally got a look at Lumiose City, inspired by Paris. The city boasts classic European architecture, narrow streets, outdoor cafés, and, of course, its own version of the Eiffel Tower. Trees blend seamlessly into the urban environment, streets are overgrown with grass, and moss-covered buildings add to the atmosphere. The visuals look stunning, especially from above — trainers can now climb rooftops and even jump between buildings!

The city is undergoing a massive reconstruction, funded by the Quasartico Corporation, which is creating public spaces where humans and Pokémon can coexist. However, judging by the ominous look of the company’s CEO and their secretary, it remains unclear whether they will play a purely positive role in the story.

Regarding gameplay, a major innovation was revealed — trainers can now move around the battlefield alongside their Pokémon and dodge attacks in real time. The interface has been adapted to support this new mechanic, and the visual effects look spectacular.

There have been many theories about the starter Pokémon over the past year, but this presentation put all speculation to rest. The starters are: Tepig, Chikorita, and Totodile.

Based on the emphasis placed on Mega Evolutions, it’s likely they will play a key role in the gameplay. Their transformation scenes look breathtaking — the shell cracks, explodes, and radiant light bursts in all directions, revealing a powerful, enhanced version of the Pokémon.

Another reveal was AZ, the ancient king of Kalos. His story is one of the franchise’s most tragic — he revived his Pokémon but was cursed with immortality and eternal loneliness as a result. Now, old and sorrowful, he runs a hotel in Lumiose City and plays an important role in the game’s story.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A is set to release at the end of 2025, so we eagerly await more news from Game Freak!

A brand-new project in the Pokémon franchise was also announced. The reveal featured energetic, electrifying music, culminating in an epic battle between Mega-Evolved and Terastallized Pokémon!

While details remain scarce, one thing is clear — this is a multiplayer game that focuses solely on battles. It includes all the mechanics fans love, such as type advantages, abilities, and moves. The game will be available on Nintendo Switch and mobile devices and will be integrated with Pokémon HOME, allowing players to transfer Pokémon from other games.

With so little information available, we’re looking forward to hot new announcements and gameplay trailers later this year.

Pokémon Unite

New Pokémon are making their way into Pokémon Unite! Suicune, Alolan Raichu, and Alcremie are joining the roster. Suicune arrives on March 1, Raichu in April, and Alcremie is marked with a frustrating "Coming Soon".

Additionally, developers updated the map and wild Pokémon, but this was mentioned briefly, without much emphasis.

Pokémon TCG Pocket

One of the most significant announcements in the TCG Pocket world is the addition of ranked matches, set to arrive in March. The day after the presentation, the game introduced the powerful Arceus ex card as part of the "Triumphant Light" booster pack. However, this reveal wasn’t a surprise — it had already leaked a few days before the presentation.

The set includes several new Pokémon ex, and some feature new Link abilities.

Other Announcements and News

A large portion of the presentation was dedicated to smaller events, including a Cresselia vs. Darkrai battle in Pokémon Sleep. Masters EX also received a mention, as it celebrates 5.5 years since launch — Primal Groudon and Primal Kyogre will be joining the game. Additionally, a new Pokémon GO TOUR was announced, featuring Pokémon from the Unova region. The event will last only two days — March 1 and 2. There were also smaller niche updates, such as a new apple-themed menu in the puzzle game Café ReMix.

A particularly noteworthy announcement was the continuation of Pokémon Concierge — a wholesome series about Haru, a workaholic who becomes a concierge at a Pokémon resort. The new episodes will release in September 2025, exclusively on Netflix. The last episode aired in December 2023, and while the streaming giant had announced plans to continue production, the new season was not expected anytime soon.

That concludes Pokémon Presents 2025! The most anticipated highlight was, of course, the trailer and new details about Pokémon Legends: Z-A. However, there were plenty of other major announcements — the entire 20-minute presentation was packed with exciting updates across the franchise.

Now, all that’s left is to wait for the biggest release of the year and keep playing our favorite Pokémon games!
