In the Pokémon universe, there is everything: from elegant creatures to funny and cute beings. However, among them, there are also those whose appearance causes bewilderment, laughter, or the desire to turn away. This does not mean that they are bad fighters or undeserving of attention, but their external appearance is clearly not crafted with a love for aesthetics. Let us humorously look at those who have entered the list of the ugliest.
Trubbish
Image: gamerslive.fr
It's hard to be attractive when you're literally the embodiment of a trash bag. Trubbish is a combination of dirty plastic, torn polyethylene, and something you wouldn't want to examine up close. Its dull eyes and strange smile add a touch of comedic horror to its image.
As a Pokémon, it is not without its usefulness, especially in tactical battles. But admit it, living trash running towards you is a sight you'd rather forget. Trubbish seems to remind us of the importance of environmental responsibility.
Garbodor
Image: bleedingcool.com
If the previous character is a trash bag, then Garbodor is a moving landfill. Its enormous, lumpy figure looks like the result of a failed experiment in a waste recycling laboratory. The foul smell and protruding pieces of garbage enhance the overall picture and even the scent through the screen. Yuck! It only lacks flying flies nearby.
However, despite all this, Garbodor fulfills its ecological role by recycling waste and turning it into weapons. So perhaps we shouldn't judge the character too harshly.
Probopass
Image: host.breakinglocal.news
This ugly Pokémon looks like a huge rock with a glued-on nose stolen from a circus clown. And those ridiculous mustaches that resemble something poorly attached to a bush. Seriously, what inspired the creators?
Probopass can be strategically useful, but its appearance is a separate story. It's hard to take the character seriously when it seems like it’s about to start singing love songs in the style of an Italian opera singer. Just add a guitar to complete the image.
Jynx
Image: youtube.com
The first thing that catches the eye is the exaggerated lips and the strange dress resembling a festive costume from the '80s. Add a blond wig to this, and you get a creature that evokes mixed feelings. It seems even the Pokémon itself is shocked by its own appearance because how else can you explain that expression full of confusion and surprise?
Jynx is often criticized for its unusual appearance, but one cannot deny the character’s combat abilities. Despite its oddities, the creature remains a popular choice among trainers.
Stunfisk
Image: pinterest.com
The ugliest Pokémon, squashed like a shoe, resembles a bath mat more than a living being. The creature’s expression literally says, "I’m disappointed even that I exist".
Stunfisk can certainly surprise opponents with its electric attacks, but the fighter’s appearance clearly doesn’t inspire you to add it to your team. Unless you feel sorry and take it in an aquarium… or perhaps as a doormat at home.
Bruxish
Image: ftw.usatoday.com
The bright coloration of this Pokémon resembles some ridiculous retro wallpaper, and its huge teeth make the hero look like a character from a cartoon about crazy fish. Bruxish is an example of how one can overdo the design.
Despite its intimidating appearance, the fish has powerful attacks. But still, if you encounter this strange fish in dark waters, be prepared for a heart attack.
Mr. Mime
Image: youtube.com
It's hard to describe this nightmare in words. Its miming skills and comically bent limbs make the character resemble a hero from a bad children's show. Moreover, children will clearly not be thrilled by what they see. They’re more likely to be scared and run away.
Mr. Mime will undoubtedly be useful in team battles, but its appearance will always be a source of jokes and memes. Perhaps the character should spend less time pantomiming and more time caring about its image.
Crabominable
Image: youtube.com
This Pokémon looks like a crab that moved to the Arctic but couldn’t adapt. Its fur looks ridiculous, and the huge claws add even more chaos to its image.
Crabominable is strong in close combat, so if its appearance doesn’t scare you, you can confidently add the character to your team. But how long will your patience last when looking at such an unrefined monster design?
Dracovish
Image: archives.bulbagarden.net
When scientists in the Pokémon world decided to revive ancient creatures, something clearly went wrong. Dracovish looks like a combination of two different beings glued together hastily. Upon seeing this hero for the first time, I wondered, what exactly is this? A manifestation of the creators' terrible imagination?
Its strange mouth, positioned at an angle, and elongated shapes raise another question: "Who approved this?" But strangely enough, it is very strong in battles, so you shouldn’t shy away from the little monster. Push yourself to add it to your team to achieve victories over more attractive opponents.
Lickilicky
Image: bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net
Its enormous body and excessively long tongue evoke mixed emotions. Jubilation or horror? You decide. Lickilicky looks like a cute toy left in the sun that has melted.
This Pokémon is useful in battles thanks to its abilities, but its design will always be a topic of discussion because you don’t meet a creature with such an obvious "tongue accent" every day. It seems like it could lick an opponent to death.
Gulpin
Image: pokemon.fandom.com
This spherical Pokémon with protruding "lips" looks like a creature accidentally thrown out of a children's cartoon. The hero clearly lacked design development because the design is simple, unexpressive, and also scary. The above monsters are somewhat memorable, but this character will be forgotten immediately because there’s no visible accent.
Barbaracle
Image: pocketmonsters.net
Next in our top list is another something that is impossible to describe in words because you lose the ability to speak at such a sight. The Pokémon resembles a pile of rocks that someone decided to stack into something resembling a monster. The multi-armed appearance is scary and repellent, so we understand players who don’t want to add such a strange creature to their team.
However, it’s worth thinking and considering the hero’s characteristics because it is quite good. You get used to the appearance, and its strength can crush opponents.
Feebas
Image: mungfali.com
Another fish that you definitely wouldn’t want to catch on a hook. Feebas is considered weak and ugly, but its true potential is revealed only after evolving into Milotic. However, until that moment, the hero remains a strange fish with a "I just want to survive" look.
This Pokémon symbolizes that beauty is hidden inside. But honestly, until you evolve Feebas, it’s unlikely anyone will agree with that opinion.
Wormadam (Trash Cloak)
Image: pokemon.fandom.com
The ugliest Pokémon in its trash cloak resembles a failed parody of a fashion designer. The monster looks extremely ridiculous, as if it’s trying to portray something stylish but fails.
It looks more like a toy hanging from a string. Moreover, this toy is made from poor-quality material with an unsuccessful design. Did you buy one of these? Apparently, fashion in the Pokémon world also goes through crises.
Conkeldurr
Image: pokemon.fandom.com
Is this some kind of hybrid between the Joker and a construction worker? Conkeldurr is a massive humanoid with bulging veins and two concrete beams in its hands. Visually, it resembles a bodybuilder with a clown nose (hopefully, it squeaks if you press it). The Pokémon’s design seems deliberately hyper-aggressive to the point of becoming cartoonish.
Of course, beyond all that, it’s a powerful physical attacker with high HP and the excellent ability Guts, making it very dangerous in prolonged battles. But taking this hero seriously is… quite difficult. Who knows—maybe it's a deliberate distraction tactic?
Guzzlord
Image: deviantart.com
Ooooh, now this is a truly terrifying guy! Just look at this monstrosity with its massive maw, covered in spikes, eyes, claws, and… a morning star? And while its appearance is frightening—straight out of childhood nightmares—it feels like the designers got too carried away with hyperbole and forgot about aesthetics.
And though it’s extremely tanky, it has more weaknesses than strengths. Apparently, the game balance team also thought this creature wasn’t very viable.
Malamar
Image: pokemon.fandom.com
What even is this? A parrot dressed up as Ursula from The Little Mermaid? A squid flipped upside down? Its bizarre shape and sinister gaze evoke unease in many. And while this character is supposed to be dark, it looks more ridiculous, like a cosplayer of an evil sea witch from a cartoon.
It’s worth noting that this Pokémon has the unique ability Contrary, which turns stat drops into boosts, making it an unexpectedly powerful strategic asset. Plus, if your opponent doesn’t know about this, you can catch them off guard while they’re laughing at your fighter’s appearance.
Gumshoos
Image: pokemonpets.com
Gumshoos’s design looks comical and baffling: no charisma, no intimidation, just a weird creature resembling a mid-tier meme.
In-game, it doesn’t have much to boast about either. It might be usable in the early stages but quickly gets overshadowed by stronger Normal-type Pokémon. Though, perhaps it wears a red cap better than anyone else.
Throh
Image: bulbapedia.bulbagarden.net
It feels like every neighborhood has that one neighbor: they grumble a lot and often overindulge in strong drinks. If you don’t have one on your street, you can catch one in Pokémon GO—except here, it also fights.
Throh is a red humanoid in a kimono with a bulky body and a neck approximately 0 centimeters long. The design feels crude and unappealing, especially compared to other Fighting-types. It looks like it was made in 4 minutes just to meet the quota for new Pokémon.
However, despite this, it has high HP and decent Attack. It can be useful in a defensive role thanks to access to Bulk Up and status moves. So, appearances can be deceiving—if your sense of aesthetics allows you to use Throh, go ahead and add it to your team!
Klefki
Image: mdsite.deno.dev
Okay, fine, at least the last one took 4 minutes to make! Apparently, when designing Klefki, the artist decided anything could be a Pokémon and just traced a set of keys that Throh lost!
Seriously—it’s literally a keyring with a face! The lore says Klefki steals people’s keys and wears them as trophies. Though intended as a "guardian," it’s very hard to take this hero seriously.
Still, it’s an excellent support Pokémon and one of the most annoying fighters for control strategies… and for designers.
Binacle
Image: cleanpng.com
This would be funny if it weren’t already beyond funny. Warts on sticks. Each wart has two eyes and a pair of hands growing out of a rock. The whole Binacle structure looks like a ridiculous absurdity, parodying a battle Pokémon.
Binacle itself is almost never used in battles, and no wonder—but its evolution, Barbaracle, actually becomes a threatening build. And it looks way less ridiculous than its pre-evolved form.
Claydol
Image: pokemon.fandom.com
Claydol is an animated clay figurine with multiple eyes, hovering in the air. What did you think it was? I couldn’t come up with a description either—what even is this thing? Its abstractness, numerous eyes, and strange body shape evoke a sense of alienness, but not in a good way. This hero looks like pure chaos, a toy of dark gods, indescribable in the best Lovecraftian traditions.
In-game, it functions as a versatile defender with access to Stealth Rock, Rapid Spin, and telepathic tricks, fitting well into a team despite not fitting into this world at all.
Magmar
Image: wallpapers.com
Karen, please stop—you’re really not pulling off the Speed Metal band frontman look. Magmar is a hybrid of a duck, a lizard, an Instagram model with silicone-injected lips, and Satan.
One of the weirdest early designs that still sparks heated debates and burning sensations in certain places among fans. Its elongated lips, clashing colors, awkward pose, and "butt above the eyebrows" make it more of a grotesque joke than a battle Pokémon.
Either way, Aunt Karen has strong Fire-type attacks and decent Speed but deals serious cringe damage to its allies.
Diggersby
Image: pinterest.com
Once, this character was a cute little bunny, but then it grew up and became a gross, sleazy dude. Diggersby is a grubby construction-worker rabbit with shovel hands for ears. Feels like the perfect horror story for kids who don’t study hard enough.
Its belly sags, its ears look like they’ve been digging through trash, and its fur is stained with smoked fish residue. Instead of being cute or tough, it’s just a walking factory of crude jokes.
Thanks to the ability Huge Power, this character can deal massive damage despite its low base stats. As unpleasant and unaesthetic as this slob may look, sometimes it can be a fearsome opponent—but more often, just an unpleasant conversation partner.
Stunky
Image: youtube.com
This fluffy Pokémon resembles a skunk that nature has endowed with an amazing "aroma". Its appearance and smell go hand in hand, creating a comedic effect. If you look closely, the creature resembles a cat. Cat-skunk? Perhaps.
Stunky is useful for tactical battles. Maybe this is exactly the case where "ugliness" becomes a strong point.
In the Pokémon world, there is beauty, strength, and strategy, but sometimes there are creatures that cause more of a smile than delight. Each of them is unique in their own way, and their appearance is only part of their story. After all, even ugliness can be charming if you look at it with humor!
