On September 11, Microsoft launched a new subscription plan for Xbox Game Pass — Xbox Game Pass Standard — priced at $15 per month. Initially, it was known that this version of the subscription would not offer new releases on launch day, and in some cases, users would have to wait months for them.

However, with the release of the Standard Game Pass, it turned out that Microsoft removed access to several dozen games for subscribers. At least 40 titles are unavailable to Xbox Game Pass Standard subscribers, despite being accessible in the previous version of the subscription.

For example, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III (2023), which was added to the subscription in July this year, is now missing. The same goes for Age of Mythology: Retold, which was included in the subscription just last week.

Other "missing" games include titles like Still Wakes the Deep, Octopath Traveler II, Valorant, Neon White, and Forza Motorsport (2023) Standard Edition, among many others.

Interestingly, the changes did not affect the standard Game Pass subscription on PC, but there’s no guarantee that the situation won’t change in the future.

This move has come as an unexpected and unpleasant surprise for users, who were likely not expecting that games from the previous version of the standard subscription would be removed.
