We're entering a hot period where sequels to the banger series follow each other. We're less than ten days away from Arcane season two, and then we will have the continuation of the Squid Game. Streaming giant Netflix has been steadily building anticipation by periodically releasing teasers, but there were also rumors circulating that the platform is considering making an English-language version with a veteran director controlling everything.

For some time, David Fincher, known for thrillers like Se7en, The Game, and Fight Club, has been a rumored contender for this role. Now, according to Deadline, it’s confirmed that Fincher will be the showrunner for the project.

Fincher is expected to dedicate the entirety of 2025 working on his version of Squid Game. British writer Dennis Kelly, best known for his acclaimed thriller series Utopia, which centers on secret services and conspiracy theories, has been named as the screenwriter. No further information is available about this adaptation — it's unclear whether it will be a full remake or an expansion of the universe of the Korean original. In either case, it looks very promising!
