The gaming industry doesn’t have many well-known figures whose opinions are absolutely based. One of them is Swen Vincke, the head of Larian Studios and the man behind one of the most powerful speeches in The Game Awards history.

He pointed out that once again, people are declaring that single-player story-driven games are "dead." However, according to Vincke, that’s far from the truth. In his view, single-player games can’t "die"—they just need to be good to capture attention.

Many users in the comments agreed with him, citing obvious examples of high-quality and engaging games that have been released in recent months.

At the same time, gamers shared their own stories. One commenter said that they had recently spent over 100 hours on an unnamed game, while their wife watched the entire time, making it a shared experience. Another Baldur’s Gate 3 fan stated that they wanted even longer games—they could easily finish a 100-hour RPG in just two weeks because they got so immersed.

So, it’s clear that players are more than willing to dive deep into massive projects— as long as they are that good.
