The main highlights from PlayStation's State of Play presentation on the night of February 12-13, 2025, include updates on upcoming games and fresh reveals.
Sony showcased trailers for Leslie Benzies' (game director and producer of L.A. Noire, Max Payne 3, GTA 5) new project MindsEye, Borderlands 4, Directive 8020, Onimusha: Way of the Sword, Hell is Us, and a teaser for Saros, a single-player game by the creators of Returnal.
Borderlands 4
The star of the show! The presentation featured a glimpse of gameplay with plenty of guns, enemies, and humor. More details will be revealed during the next State of Play. The game is set to launch on September 23, 2025.
Onimusha: Way of the Sword
A trailer for the continuation of Capcom's iconic series was shown. The samurai action game promises stylish combat against demons from Japan's underworld, reminiscent of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance.
According to the official description, players will wield swords skillfully in brutal battles while uncovering mysteries and intrigues in feudal Kyoto. The release is scheduled for 2026, with a remastered version of Onimusha 2 arriving on May 23, 2025.
Saros
This new game from Finnish studio Housemarque, known for Returnal, offers little detail so far but promises an evolution of their rogue-like third-person action gameplay combined with a surreal Lynch-inspired narrative.
Set on the planet Carcosa under threat from a mysterious "sinister eclipse," it draws inspiration from Indian mythology. The protagonist, Arjun Devraj, faces multi-armed creatures, hinting at this cultural shift compared to previous works. Release is planned for 2026.
Hell is Us
An action-adventure title described as "Death Stranding with action," directed by Jonathan Jacques-Belletête, art director of Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Deus Ex: Mankind Divided. Inspired by Alex Garland’s film Annihilation and Jeff VanderMeer’s Southern Reach trilogy, the game takes place in a war-torn country amidst an otherworldly apocalypse. It releases on September 4, 2025.
