In real life, carrying a weapon can land you in prison, but in video games, it’s your ticket to a world of unpunished chaos. Developers compete to create the craziest arsenal: whether it's the golden spoon from Payday 2 or the rifle that swears with every shot, like in Borderlands 3. Let’s explore the most interesting projects.
Fallout 4

In Fallout 4, you can assemble a vast number of guns, even in a construction-set format. Only this construction set is for adults. You take rusty junk, screw on optics, add a bayonet, and now it’s not a sawed-off shotgun but an exclusive apocalyptic art piece.
Developers have a special fondness for pipe guns—weapons that look like they were made by a drunk plumber in a basement. But add a few mods, and this "stick with a nail" turns into a deadly sniper rifle.
And if you get tired of the makeshift stuff, you can always get your hands on a plasma rifle and literally vaporize super mutants. Or grab a chainsaw and start a wasteland massacre with it. The choice is yours: be a self-taught engineer or a soldier of the future.
Destiny 2

In Destiny 2, it's a true smorgasbord of weapons, with nearly 1,500 types of guns. Among them are exotic weapons that shoot either lasers or some kind of magic.
As you progress, you’ll often face the heartbreaking choice: throw away your old favorite weapon or keep it just in case. And "just in case" happens quite often in Destiny 2.
The key is not to overdo it and forget to clean out your inventory before the next raid. Otherwise, at the most critical moment, you’ll discover that all your slots are filled with items "just in case".
Monster Hunter Wilds

In Monster Hunter Wilds, weapons are both tools for killing monsters and expressing your identity. You can be a noble knight wielding a two-handed sword or even roast monsters with a flamethrower.
The series has always been known for its variety, and starting with Wilds, the game added the ability to swap weapons on the fly, so if a monster suddenly decides it’s immune to your axe today, you can quickly switch to something sharper.
And yes, if you feel like you need more, don’t worry. The developers love to throw in some exotic options, like magnetic spikes or acceleration axes. Hunting giant lizards requires a meticulous approach.
Cyberpunk 2077

In Cyberpunk 2077, weapons are closely tied to the playstyle you follow throughout the game. Want to shoot like a classic thug? Grab a regular gun and enjoy the recoil. Dreaming of high-tech gadgets? Homing weapons will find their target, and all you’ll need to do is pull the trigger.
If you get tired of shooting, you can always take out the natural blades embedded in your arm and show your enemies that cybernetics are not just about bullets. However, you'll need to level up your cyberchips quite a bit.
There are around 25 types of weapons in the game, not to mention the hacking abilities that allow you to disable enemies without ever drawing a gun. In Night City, you could be killed by one careless glance, so it’s better to be armed to the teeth.
Helldivers 2

Helldivers 2 is a game where you're thrown into the thick of things, but with a solid arsenal. You’ll need to deal with insects using 13 types of weapons, not including strategic ones that can call in everything from turrets to a nuclear strike.
Recently, melee weapons were added to the game, so now you can not only shoot alien squids but also bash them with your rifle butt. What will the next updates bring? Maybe a laser crossbow or a grenade launcher that shoots larvae—let’s see.
Grand Theft Auto V

GTA V doesn’t overwhelm you with weapons from the first minute, but by the middle of the game, you’ll have so many guns that you could open your own armory. There are pistols, assault rifles, shotguns, uzis, sniper rifles, baseball bats, and grenade launchers.
Almost everything can be bought for pennies (by Los Santos standards). In total, there are 101 weapons. Enough to cause chaos on the streets in every possible way.
Far Cry 6

Fans of Fallout 4 send their regards. Because in Far Cry 6, it’s a paradise for those who love weapons cobbled together from junk. The Resolver lineup could easily be called a masterpiece of engineering.
How about a machine gun made from a motorcycle engine or a grenade launcher made from a turntable? And then there’s Supremo—a backpack that can shoot rockets, zap with electricity, or simply explode. Because in the world of Far Cry 6, the best defense is a good offense. And preferably with a bit of firepower.
Payday 2

In Payday 2, you start as a modest robber with a pistol, suit, and a mask that looks like it was cut from an old pillowcase. But after leveling up, you’ll be storming the White House with a giant golden spoon that sets enemies on fire and a double-barrel shotgun that fires in bursts.
You can jam police signals with an ECM jammer, throw Molotov cocktails, and if you get tired of shooting, you can always just beat the cops to death with your fists. There’s plenty of grinding, but each successful heist brings not only money but also that dopamine hit to the brain, which is why we’re all here in the first place.
The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

In Tears of the Kingdom, there is an enormous selection of weapons, from pitchforks to the master sword, which are among the legendary types of weapons. You can literally craft a temporary solution to fight Bokoblins using a stone and a stick. All thanks to the system that allows you to combine items.
Throughout the game, players will see Link try almost anything he wishes to use in battle, from torches to huge claymores. And don’t be bothered by the branch attached to another branch—it will at least be long.
Borderlands 3

In Borderlands 3, the amount of weaponry could rival the population of small countries. There are literally millions of guns. There are rifles that shoot acid, shotguns that explode like grenades, and pistols that shout something obscene with every shot.
And there’s legendary weapons like the Backburner, which looks like it was assembled from parts of a washing machine and a rocket engine. Borderlands 3 doesn’t just give you weapons. The game buries you in them. And the best part is, every gun makes you want to test it out on the first gang you come across. An absolute favorite.
That's it—you now know where you can legally shoot, bash, and even roast enemies without consequences. What games do you know where the hero is given such an extensive arsenal? Share in the comments!
