Split Fiction is a new co-op game that, in addition to its main storyline, also features side stories that allow players to see the game world from a different perspective. While these stories do not affect the main plot, they add variety to the gameplay, making the experience more engaging. In this article, we’ll guide you through all the Side Stories and where to find them.
Main Information
When players are near a Side Story, roughly ten to twenty steps away, the heroines' dialogues always hint at the possibility of briefly traveling to another world. Of course, there is always the option to skip them and move on, as Mio and Zoe warn us right from the start of the game, but we can’t, and we don’t recommend it to you either!
So, there are a total of 12 such adventures in the game, and we’ll now tell you about each of them.
The Legend of the Sandfish

This is the first Side Story and serves as an introduction to this feature. It’s hard to miss since you naturally encounter it when passing through the first level of Mio’s world, Neon Revenge. You’ll be transported to a location reminiscent of Prince of Persia, where you can experience life as an Arrakis resident, using the iconic sand-traveling technique.
It’s worth noting that this is the first adventure to feature an Easter egg referencing multiple famous franchises at once, making it quite unique—but that’s exactly what makes it so special!
- Location: Neon Revenge. You’ll arrive right in front of it at the beginning of the Play Me Piano quest after the cutscene.
Farmlife

Ever dreamed of playing as a pig, passing gas, or turning into a curly tail? Split Fiction grants you this bizarre opportunity in one of its Side Stories. Not only will you get to experience life as a pig, but you’ll also go through a meat grinder, season yourself with salt and pepper, and eventually end up in someone’s stomach!
- Location: Neon Revenge. Right after the cutscene, walk forward up the stairs, overcome an obstacle, and you’ll see a sign for Porcus Bank—along with the portal.
Mountain Hike

This Side Story stands out from the others, not only for its breathtaking landscapes but also for the unique terrain you traverse. You won’t just be running across cliffs—you’ll also explore the hands and feet of giants! Zoe’s world will reveal itself from an entirely new perspective, leaving you eagerly anticipating what’s next.
- Location: Big City Life chapter. You can find it near the restrooms—this is the only such location, so you won’t miss it. When Mio enters a stall, the player controlling Zoe should throw her right—toward the green light—instead of forward.
Train Heist

And in this world, you will have to chase a train using various vehicles, including water skis, wingsuits, and spacecraft. While there’s nothing particularly groundbreaking here, it is one of the few Side Stories that features a boss battle at the end. But it’s worth mentioning that the variety of vehicles makes it one of the most remarkable in the game.
- Location: Lord Evergreen. As you navigate the water lily obstacles, you’ll reach a fork in the path at the very end. Instead of heading toward the main story, swim toward the Side Story!
Gameshow

The only game where a single mistake sends you back to the very beginning. You’ll need to overcome various obstacles such as electric currents, moving blocks, and glass barriers while simultaneously tossing and catching a bomb with your teammate. Be careful—if you fail to pass the bomb in time, it will explode, sending you straight back to the start of the round!
- Location: Walking Stick of Green. On your way to the main story, you’ll come across a fork with a bridge and some obstacles. Overcome them, and you’ll find the portal.
Collapsing Star

In this Side Story, you must hide behind glass panels and moving objects to protect yourself from explosions. Cooperation with your teammate is key, as you’ll need to take turns raising a shield at the end to protect each other. Keep in mind that the shield has a cooldown, so use it wisely!
- Location: Halls of Ice. Shortly after the mission begins, you’ll be given the option to enter a castle. Don’t do it! Instead, jump through the window, overcome the obstacles, and find the portal.
The Kites

This is the only Side Story where all you have to do is fly. Make sure not to miss any rings, as skipping an air current will send you backward. Unlike the main story, your progress is independent of your teammate’s, so if they finish before you, they’ll have to wait.
- Location: Toxic Tumblers. When the path turns left to continue the main story, don’t follow it. Instead, move forward a bit. Mio and Zoe will start a conversation, hinting that a Side Story awaits ahead.
Moon Market

Arguably the cutest world in the game. If you love cats, you definitely shouldn’t skip this one! Here, you can try your hand at painting with colors, playing the flute via QTE elements, and lighting a bonfire Elden Ring-style. You’ll also get to see a castle reminiscent of Hogwarts and witness wizards flying on broomsticks!
- Location: Test Chamber. After passing through the colored barriers, you’ll come across a platform with four more moving platforms. Stick to the left side, and you’ll find the portal!
Notebook

Unlike the other Side Stories, this one isn’t about graphics but rather how the world is built. This time, you won’t be in space but instead the main characters of a story that unfolds and changes along with you. Want to solve a troll’s riddle, shoot arrows, or choose a boss to fight? Then Notebook is the place for you!
- Location: Soaring Desperados. After receiving your jetpack, you’ll see a spiral-shaped obstacle inside a tube. To its left, there will be a passage to another world.
Slopes of War

Did you enjoy the ice-skating race in It Takes Two? Then you absolutely must try this Side Story! Here, speed doesn’t matter—it's all about the tricks. You’ll snowboard down a mountain slope, performing as many tricks as needed to outscore your opponent. The key? Avoid dying. Each death penalizes you with -1,000 points, which can seriously affect your chances of winning.
- Location: Water Temple. You’ll reach a fork where the main story path is on one side, and two floating golden orbs are on the other. Pass through the orbs and turn left. Use the platform to cross to the other side.
Space Escape

Ever dreamed of making a daring escape through space? Then welcome to this level! Here, you’ll need to master the laws of gravity—and avoid getting stuck in objects. Keep in mind that your oxygen supply is limited, so be mindful if you decide to stop and admire the cosmic galaxy views.
- Location: Craft Temple. At the start of the mission, the game prompts you to move forward. However, to find this Side Story, turn right and keep going straight.
Birthday Cake

One of the vibrant levels you will get to visit! Here, you’ll dive back into childhood, jumping on waffles and marshmallows just like in Ratatouille. But that’s not all—you’ll also take on the role of a tooth armed with toothpaste! This is one of the few locations that feature a boss at the end—a dentist. And let’s be honest, who wasn’t scared of the dentist as a kid?
- Location: Treasure Temple. Follow the path with crystals, and when it's time to turn left toward the temple, turn right instead, and you'll see a portal.
All of these Side Stories are easy to miss while playing Split Fiction. We hope our guide has been helpful, and that you’ll get to experience them all on your first playthrough. Which one is your favorite? Let us know in the comments!
