Holiday days are the perfect time to gather with friends and family and create a festive atmosphere. To make Christmas even brighter and more vibrant, the right games are essential. In our selection, we present 10 captivating titles that will host a small gaming festival.

Jackbox Party Pack

  • Developer: Jackbox Games

Each installment of The Jackbox Party Pack includes several different games, each designed for multiple players. An excellent title that will help diversify your holiday leisure time. You can choose from several games and select the ones you like.

For example, Drawful 2 is a game where you need to draw pictures based on a given theme, and then players try to guess what you drew while simultaneously confusing other players with incorrect answer options. Or Trivia Murder Party, where participants must correctly answer quiz questions. An incorrect answer results in a challenge, and if you fail it, your end is near. There are also other diverse games in the set.

Excitement, fun, competition, and endless laughter—all of this is offered by Jackbox Party Pack, which is a must-buy for a Christmas party with friends.

Just Dance

For those who love to move to music, pay attention to this title! It will definitely come in handy for a party where, after eating, you shouldn’t go to sleep but instead dance and have fun with loved ones. Even if you’re not rhythmically inclined, it’s no big deal.

The gameplay involves participants trying to mimic the dancer's movements on the screen to earn points. During each song, users follow the movements displayed as icons in the bottom right corner of the screen and are rewarded for accuracy.

There are several modes, including a beginner mode where you can practice without scoring points. There’s also the classic mode, where you need to repeat the movements, and an elimination mode where participants who fail to score enough points are knocked out. In my opinion, these are the most interesting modes.

So, it’s worth adding this game to your list when it’s time to energize and avoid falling asleep at the table.

Mortal Kombat 1

  • Release Date: September 19, 2023
  • Developer: NetherRealm Studios, QLOC
  • Download: Steam

Nothing beats beating up a friend during a holiday celebration. No, you shouldn’t do this in real life because you’ll definitely lose your friend, but in the game, it’s perfectly allowed. This way, you can fight, compete, and get a surge of positive emotions (probably because the loser might not receive any, haha).

Choose your favorite character, enter the arena, and start a hot and bloody battle with mind-blowing fatalities. Here, skill or the ability to randomly and quickly press buttons to execute moves you might not have known before decides the outcome.

The game is hard to call festive, but the title will definitely keep everyone entertained.

Rocket League

If the previous game wasn’t enough for you to compete in coolness, it’s time to turn on some awesome and flashy soccer on… cars. Yes, it sounds crazy, but this is still a game for a festive atmosphere, meaning a touch of madness is essential.

The rules are the same as in classic soccer: the more goals your team scores, the better. Moreover, there are no goalkeepers in this game. Only then can you defeat your opponents. You’ll be controlling not people, but futuristic cars. What’s pleasing is the match speed, which lasts five minutes.

The cars are fast, indestructible, maneuverable, and jet-powered. They handle perfectly, instantly get back on their wheels after flipping, can drive on the stadium walls, and even jump, somersaulting in the air. I think it’s a great concept for a standard game like soccer.

Use Your Words

  • Release Date: April 4, 2017
  • Developer: Smiling Buddha Games
  • Download: Steam

This title is suitable for those who love to think quickly and creatively, coming up with various slogans or mottos. It features four mini-games:

⚡️ Sub the Title: a clip from a movie is displayed without subtitles, and participants need to create their own subtitles.

⚡️ Extra! Extra!: an unusual image appears on the screen, and users must come up with an original newspaper headline.

⚡️ Blank-O-Matic: you need to humorously complete a sentence.

⚡️ Survey Says: here, you must write funny answers to questions.

The game will definitely lift your spirits, and you can play it right at the table. Loud and long laughter, creativity, plenty of humor, and fun are guaranteed!

Crab Game

  • Developer: Dani
  • Download: Steam

As you might have guessed, this title is based on the popular Netflix series “Squid Game.” Naturally, the principle is the same: survive. To do this, participants must avoid death by any means, and it won’t be easy. But if you manage to do so, you’ll receive money (of course, not real money). However, it might happen that none of the participants survive the challenges, ending the game there.

Future deceased participants, oh, I mean players, can attack each other with various objects, compete on maps and game modes, and communicate with each other via voice or text chat. This is where your friendship is tested—if it remains after such a deceitful and heated battle.

There are competitions focused on platforming, where you need to skillfully jump from place to place, avoid traps, and stay away from villains trying to push you down. In others, you must run away from players so they don’t tear you apart. There are also combat activities.

The title is purely for fun with friends for a few lively hours. Turning on something like this during the holidays is a good idea, as long as you don’t end up quarreling.

Minecraft

I couldn’t not mention the classic that will definitely brighten up the festive mood. In this game, anything is possible: hunting, resource gathering, trips to the Nether, building, fishing, farming, and more. If you wish, you can build a snowman next to your house, decorate your home festively, bring in a Christmas tree to hang out beside it with your friend and a tame wolf.

This title will undoubtedly create an unparalleled Christmas atmosphere and provide users with many hours of engaging gameplay. Of course, you’ll have to get used to the blocky graphics, but later you won’t even notice it, especially if you install a few mods.

Gang Beasts

  • Release Date: December 12, 2017
  • Developer: Boneloaf, Rocket Science
  • Download: Steam

Another fighting game where you and your friends can let off steam. Several players are placed in a location and must defeat each other using grabs or various moves to throw opponents off the map or into particularly dangerous zones. The locations are very diverse, including:

  • a soccer field;
  • a rooftop;
  • a ring;
  • a truck, and more.

Since I’m listing games for groups, team mode will definitely be needed here, although there are also solo play options. A team of four is formed, and a heated battle begins.

Another pleasant plus is that you can dress up and decorate your character. This won’t affect any stats but will improve the appearance and, of course, the mood.

You can hit opponents with your head and hands, and then, when they lose consciousness, grab their body and take it to the desired place or throw it off. Sometimes, in attempts to eliminate an opponent, you might fall off the map yourself. Each match quickly turns into chaos: everyone is hitting each other on the head, jumping, fainting, and dragging someone away. In general, Christmas will light up with bright lights. Even brighter than the garland on the Christmas tree.

Spelunky

  • Release Date: August 8, 2013
  • Developer: Mossmouth
  • Download: Steam

So, this is purely an adventure where the user will travel, search for treasures, explore caves, fight opponents, and rescue girls. Like any other solid platformer, Spelunky changes over time. Mines are replaced by jungles with monkeys and cute vampires. Then the jungles transition into a bottomless pit with extremely slippery ledges.

Reaching the end is difficult, almost impossible, because the randomly generated levels bring many surprises and challenges. You’ll always have to think about what to choose: go right or left, what to buy in the store, life or a cooler weapon, and so on.

By the way, be careful with friends in this game because they might suddenly become enemies who explode your character and even feed the corpse to monsters. However, it will be fun to compete and test each other’s trust. An excellent platformer to have a fun holiday.

Fall Guys

  • Release Date: June 21, 2022
  • Developer: Mediatonic
  • Download: fallguys.com

Our selection concludes with Fall Guys. Essentially, the game belongs to the Battle Royale genre, where a match starts with 60 players. Naturally, only one must survive. Additionally, participants must complete a series of different, random tasks without any connections between them. This is a mandatory condition to reach the finish line.

For example, a player might need to run through an obstacle course or roll a ball to the finish line with a team. This is even a plus because each match becomes not monotonous and repetitive, but unexpected and full of fun. You never know what the game will bring this time.

These were 10 games so that everyone can spend the holidays with friends. Have fun, enjoy the gameplay, and make Christmas even brighter and more diverse with these titles.
