Minecraft is a survival game where you can not only explore vast areas but also fight against tough mobs and bosses. The Warden is one of those high-level mobs that many consider to be among the toughest creatures in the game. In this guide, we will cover its characteristics, how to kill it, what it drops, and how long it takes to despawn if not engaged in combat.
Who is the Warden
The Warden is a creature resembling seaweed, but it’s not as friendly as the stories make them seem. Its body is dark azure, and its ears appear to be made from something oceanic. At the same time, it resembles a ravenous demon, angry at being awakened. Indeed, with its high HP and devastating attacks, it is comparable to some of the toughest mobs in the game!
It resides in the The Deep Dark biome, so it can only be found deep within caves. Simply dig down until you find Deepslate, which indicates you're getting close to your target.

Stand in the center of the Sculk Shrieker three times, and then look around as the mob will appear from the ground. It looks terrifying, so trust me, you won’t miss it. At least because this demon makes horrific gurgling sounds upon its appearance.
Appearance
As mentioned, the Warden is a dark azure-colored mob with its characteristic, unusual ears. Also, take note of its mouth, which is constantly open. In addition, its body has distinct yellow spots that resemble muscle relief, and it has crystals of unknown origin running down its center.
How to Defeat the Warden
The battle against this demon is extremely challenging. It has 250 health points, so killing it is no easy task. It hits hard: 8 on easy difficulty, 15 on normal, and 22.5 on hard, so be cautious—one of its strikes can be your last.

Despite lacking eyes, the Warden has highly sensitive senses, which means it can hear very well. Sometimes, its movements suggest that it’s sniffing around to catch the player's scent. However, this is just an animation. The only behavior model of this monster is: it hears, rushes toward, and strikes.
You can defeat it in several ways, but first, let’s break down its attacks.
Warden’s Attacks
The first and most basic attack is a melee strike. The danger here lies in the fact that the mob has an extremely high movement speed, so once it catches up to the player, it will beat them to death.
His second attack is an AoE roar. The Warden emits a scream horizontally over 15 blocks and 20 blocks upward. If the player is within range, it deals damage from three to seven and a half hearts, depending on the difficulty. The problem is that the soundwave ignores any armor and blocks, meaning it can only be avoided by moving a significant distance away from the Warden. By the way, the "Resistance" buff reduces the damage from this attack.

Killing Strategies
Earth Trap
Wait until the demon starts appearing from underground, then simply dig out the ground beneath it, leaving a gap of 2 blocks. Next, build a pillar that reaches 22 blocks high and shoot arrows into it. This way, you can kill the Warden without taking any damage.
You can also lure it into an area where it will be trapped by four walls, then just shoot it with a bow until its health bar runs out. The simplest option is shown in the image below.

Sword
You can also try to kill it the standard way, but you'll need to not only have the best gear in the game but also stock up on apples to regenerate health. We also recommend building a rock formation or staying near surfaces that are hard to climb, as this is where the Warden is weak. Just try to escape from it in this way when your health is running low.
Army of Golems
Create your own army of golems and set them on the Warden. Note that you don’t need to attack it at the same time as the golems, as you'll only waste your precious hearts. Simply stand aside and watch; when the golems die, you can step in and finish the job.
What Does It Drop
It's not exactly an impressive reward. Aside from the excitement, experience, and memories, you’ll receive a Sculk Catalyst, which may come in handy in future adventures.
Despawn
If you miscalculated your strength after summoning the Warden, run as far away from it as possible and hide. Once it loses track of you, 60 seconds will pass and it will return to the ground. This way, you can both get rid of the mob and save your life.
