2025 promises to be a true celebration for fans of the superhero genre. Unless, of course, it turns into a disaster for the already waning genre. Movies and series in the new year will not only expand the boundaries of familiar universes but also offer fresh concepts and approaches to beloved characters.

Movies

Captain America: Brave New World — February 14

The new Marvel film will continue the story of Sam Wilson (Anthony Mackie), who has now become the new Captain America. It is one of the most talked-about projects of the year, despite failed test screenings. Most of the audience, of course, is attracted to Harrison Ford as the Red Hulk. We'll find out how it turns out in February.

Thunderbolts — May 2

According to the plot, the government assembles a team of antiheroes and sends them on a special mission. The team includes characters from previous films in the cinematic universe, such as Yelena Belova (Florence Pugh) and Bucky Barnes (Sebastian Stan). The film promises to be a kind of alternative to the "Avengers", but with a more sarcastic and sinister atmosphere.

Superman: Legacy — July 11

The legendary superhero team returns to the screens after many years of absence. The plot will focus on the team's confrontation with Galactus, with Pedro Pascal (Mr. Fantastic) and Vanessa Kirby (Invisible Woman) in the lead roles. Judging by the concept art, we can expect a retro atmosphere with an emphasis on the 1960s. We'll be able to see it this summer.

The Batman: Part II — October 2

The continuation of the dark story of the Dark Knight with Robert Pattinson in the lead role. There is little information about the project, but the film will retain the noir atmosphere of the original, promises to delve deeper into detective elements, and will likely introduce a new antagonist.

Blade — November 7

The much-troubled film about the vampire hunter may be released next year. Lead actor Mahershala Ali has been waiting for many years for a worthy director for Marvel's new creation. Despite production difficulties, the project arouses interest thanks to the well-known character and cast. Rumor has it that Wesley Snipes may even return to the role, adding a pinch of the multiverse to the gothic world of vampires. Filming has not yet begun, so we optimistically await November.

TV Series

Daredevil: Born Again — March 1

The long-awaited continuation of Matt Murdock's story with Charlie Cox in the lead role. The series will focus on the confrontation between Daredevil and Kingpin (Vincent D’Onofrio) five years after the events of the third season. The Punisher (Jon Bernthal) will also appear in the project, which will inevitably add dynamism and darkness.

Also announced by Marvel are the series: "Ironheart" — June 24, 2025, "The Eyes of Wakanda" — August 6, 2025, "Marvel Zombies" — October 2025, "Wonder Man" — December 2025.

Peacemaker — second half of 2025

The continuation of the comedic superhero series will be the third project of the DC cinematic universe. The series "Peacemaker" tells about a comical and very patriotic supervillain who kills everyone in his path. The main role in the series is played by comedic actor and wrestler John Cena. There is no exact release date, but closer to autumn we will be able to see it on HBO Max.

2025 will become one of the most eventful years for the superhero genre. New movies and series will expand the Marvel and DC universes, offer new visions of familiar heroes, and captivating stories that will continue to amaze viewers around the world. But will they withstand competition against each other, and will all the projects be profitable? Only time will tell.
