Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, also referred to simply as CS:GO, is a popular online multiplayer first-person shooter game developed by Valve Corporation and Hidden Path Entertainment. It was originally released in August 2012 for Windows, macOS, Xbox 360, and PlayStation 3. As of recently, the game has also been made available on Linux and the next-gen consoles, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.
Set in a modern-day setting, CS:GO puts players into two teams: the Terrorists and the Counter-Terrorists. The objective of the game varies depending on the game mode, but generally, it involves either planting a bomb or defusing it, rescuing hostages or keeping them from being rescued, or eliminating the enemy team altogether.
There are a variety of weapons available in CS:GO, ranging from pistols, shotguns, assault rifles, and sniper rifles, among others. Players can earn money by completing objectives or killing enemies, which they can then use to buy new weapons and equipment.
One of the defining features of CS:GO is its emphasis on strategy and teamwork. Players must work together and communicate effectively to succeed, and make frequent use of tactics such as flanking, cover fire, and coordinated assaults to outwit and outmaneuver their opponents.
In addition to its competitive multiplayer mode, CS:GO also offers a range of other features. Players can participate in casual matches, deathmatches, or custom games, as well as take part in events and challenges for the chance to earn exclusive in-game items.
