The recently released "Beach Properties" DLC for the popular city-building game Cities: Skylines II has been met with widespread disapproval from the gaming community. In response to the backlash, developers Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order have announced their plans to make amends.
As a gesture of goodwill, the creators will be offering refunds to all players who purchased the underwhelming expansion. Furthermore, "Beach Properties" will be made available for free to the entire player base in the near future. Ultimate Edition owners can also look forward to receiving additional bonuses.
Unfortunately, due to the complexities of distribution in both digital and physical marketplaces, those who own the Ultimate Edition will not be eligible for a refund on the "Beach Properties" DLC. To compensate, the developers will instead be granting these players 3 Creator Packs and 3 radio stations, with a combined value of $39.99.
In light of this situation, Paradox Interactive and Colossal Order have also committed to reevaluating their strategies for player communication and game support. Moving forward, the team will shift their focus to enhancing the core game and supporting modifications before revisiting the concept of paid downloadable content.
Consequently, the anticipated "Bridges Ports" expansion, originally slated for release in the final quarter of 2024, has been delayed until 2025. To ensure that Cities: Skylines II remains on a positive trajectory, the developers will be assembling a group of dedicated fans to contribute to the game's ongoing development.
