Given the massive success of role-playing servers in Grand Theft Auto, the idea of competing with Roblox and Fortnite as a creator platform doesn’t seem far-fetched. In fact, Rockstar Games is seriously considering developing such a platform based on GTA 6.

The concept involves allowing third-party IPs in the game and enabling modifications to environmental elements and assets. This could potentially generate revenue for content creators as well.

This information was shared by Digiday, citing three industry insiders who wished to remain anonymous.According to these sources, Rockstar Games recently held a meeting with unnamed content creators from the GTA, Fortnite, and Roblox communities. While it’s too early to confirm anything concrete, we can speculate on the possible reasoning behind this move.

A massive number of people will inevitably play Grand Theft Auto VI, given the overwhelming hype surrounding the game. If Rockstar delivers a strong experience (and they have no track record of cutting corners), players will likely want to continue engaging with the game beyond the story mode, shifting toward online play.

No matter how much content a developer prepares, they will never outpace the creativity of the community. That’s why competing with external creators isn’t the best approach—it’s better to collaborate with them. They get a platform to bring their ideas to life and monetize their work, while Rockstar secures a tool to retain players in the game. It’s a win-win.

GTA 6 is still slated for a Fall 2025 release, but we’re eagerly awaiting more announcements and details about the game.
