With more people getting attracted to the subscription model, everyone is looking to expand their catalog with low expenses. An interesting rumour falls in this logic, as PlayStation might be working on reviving franchises from its classic catalog dating back to the early console eras. This information comes from well-known insider Andy Robinson, who shared the news during The Video Games Podcast.
According to Robinson, Sony couldn’t ignore the popularity of Astro Bot and the interest sparked by its cameos. Additionally, the success of the PS Plus Premium catalog, which offers access to various retro titles, has influenced the company’s decisions. While Robinson didn’t specify which series might be revived, he hinted that several options are being considered, primarily from the oldest franchises of the PS1 and PS2 eras.
Robinson also clarified that these projects won’t be large-scale AAA releases. Instead, fans can expect smaller titles aimed at quickly expanding Sony’s library, which aligns with the company’s current goals.
