CD Projekt RED has once again captured the gaming community's attention with the announcement of Cyberpunk 2077 coming to Nintendo Switch 2. This time, however, the studio is taking full control of the porting process, showcasing its technical prowess and commitment to delivering a polished experience on the hybrid console.

When asked whether CD Projekt RED would collaborate with Panic Button—the studio responsible for porting The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt to the original Nintendo Switch—a company representative confidently responded: “The porting of Cyberpunk 2077 to Nintendo Switch 2 is being done entirely in-house.” To emphasize the point, they added a flexed bicep emoji to their statement.

This decision highlights CDPR’s growing expertise in optimizing their games for various platforms. By handling the port themselves, the studio aims to ensure that Cyberpunk 2077 meets their high standards while leveraging the enhanced capabilities of Nintendo Switch 2.

CD Projekt RED has outlined ambitious goals for the upcoming port. Players can expect:

  • Docked Mode: 1080p resolution for a crisp and immersive experience on TV screens.
  • Handheld Mode: 720p resolution, ensuring smooth gameplay during portable sessions.

Additionally, the game will offer two distinct performance modes:

  • Performance Mode: Targets 40 FPS for smoother action and exploration.
  • Quality Mode: Prioritizes graphical fidelity at 30 FPS, ideal for players who want the best visual experience.

These options aim to provide flexibility, catering to both casual gamers and performance enthusiasts.

Since its rocky launch in 2020, Cyberpunk 2077 has undergone numerous updates and patches, transforming it into a much more stable and visually impressive title. The Ultimate Edition, which includes all DLCs and enhancements, has been well-received by fans and critics alike.

Bringing the game to Nintendo Switch 2 marks another milestone in its journey. With the new hardware’s improved specs, CDPR is confident that players will enjoy Night City like never before, even on a portable device.

Mark your calendars: Cyberpunk 2077: Ultimate Edition is set to launch on Nintendo Switch 2 on June 5, 2025 .
