Corporations continue to place big bets on artificial intelligence, exploring various applications for it. Naturally, the gaming industry hasn’t been left out of this trend. Microsoft has announced Copilot for Gaming, an AI-powered feature designed to help players navigate games and provide recommendations.

According to Microsoft, Copilot for Gaming will act as a sort of in-game companion. The feature will offer tips, guides, and useful insights about the game world. It will also provide personalized recommendations based on a player’s gameplay style.

During the demonstration, Microsoft showcased how the assistant would function in Overwatch 2 and Minecraft. In Overwatch 2, Copilot analyzed gameplay, pointed out mistakes, and suggested which heroes to try. In Minecraft, it served more as an extensive knowledge base.

While AI is already being used to analyze vast amounts of data—and could be incredibly helpful in games like Dota 2 or League of Legends—there are still major concerns about how this technology will function in practice. Current AI models are far from achieving seamless and intelligent interaction with players. At some point, things will undoubtedly improve, but for now, this announcement is best taken with a grain of salt.
