The esports model, where regular players contribute to the prize pool with their own wallets remains one of the most successful. However, for a game that was nearly dismantled by the ambitions of its franchise league, this might be a new experience.

The prize pool for the 2024 Overwatch Champions Series finals will exclusively consist of in-game bundle sales percent, as announced by the organizers on social media.

Blizzard released the Neon Streets Collection, featuring skins for Mei, Tracer, and Junkrat. There are also small items that go in addition to the bundles. Sets are priced from 1,600 to 2,000 OW coins, while all three can be acquired in one Mega Bundle for 3,000 OW coins. A quarter of the revenue from these sales will go towards the tournament's prize pool. From this point of view, the system is looking like one in The International Dota 2 Championship, except for the Valve investment of $1.6 million.

The world finals will take place from November 22 to 24 in Stockholm, featuring the top eight teams from the regional OWCS 2024 series. Because there is no initial prize pool, we will be able to see the true popularity of Overwatch Esports.
