Blizzard has prepared a lot of innovations for Overwatch 2 in 2025. Among the changes are a talent system, a new Stadium mode and updated lootboxes.

Talents in Season 15 (starts on February 18) will be the main innovation. They will allow heroes to choose improvements that change the style of play. For example, Tobjorn will be able to attach his turret to walls or create a level 3 turret. These changes will open up new strategic possibilities in matches.

A new Stadium mode will appear in Season 16. It uses personalized currency to upgrade heroes' abilities. This will create unique combinations and the mode itself will offer more strategic play. The main feature is the third-person view.

Freya, a sniper with explosive arrows, will be added to the game. She will be available in season 16, as well as a free trial in season 15.

Season 15 will bring updated rankings and new rewards, including galactic weapons and mascots, as well as the return of the popular Overwatch Classic: GOATS mode.

Lootboxes also return in the new season, with additional achievement bonuses. Updated lootbox item drop chances:

  • Legendary item: 5.10%
  • Epic item: 21.93%
  • Rare item: 96.26%
  • Common Item: 97.97%

New systems such as hero locks and map voting will be added in the next seasons, Collectors will have unique mythic looks available, such as for Zenyatta and D.Va.
