Despite its massive growth, the anime industry is known for being difficult to negotiate with publishers about the distribution of their works. While you can now watch a lot on streaming platforms like Netflix or Crunchyroll, joint viewing is nearly impossible—Japanese creators tightly guard their intellectual property.
That’s why it’s especially impressive that iShowSpeed, one of the most popular streamers of 2024, has received permission to stream his favorite anime, One Piece. He revealed that he made an agreement with the anime’s producer, and they will whitelist him, ensuring he won’t face any blocks.
One Piece is known as one of the longest-running mainstream anime series, with over 1,100 episodes released over the span of more than 25 years. The show is based on the best-selling manga of all time, with a total circulation exceeding 500 million copies.
It’s easy to imagine that iShowSpeed will have a huge amount of content, even potentially holding a nearly three-week marathon. However, the streamer himself stated that he’s not sure yet what he’ll do with this permission. Knowing his creative approach, we’re excited to see something truly epic!
