The free survival horror game from HexaDrive and Konami became a pleasant surprise for Silent Hill fans. It was released on January 31, 2024, immediately following an unexpected announcement and is available to all PlayStation 5 owners.

In early December, Square Enix announced that the release of new content would conclude in January 2025. However, the servers will remain active, and all modes will remain available.

Foamstars can be downloaded for free, and a PlayStation Plus subscription is not required.

  • Release Date: March 22, 2024
  • Developer: Team Ninja
  • Download: PlayStation

An exciting open-world action RPG from Team Ninja, the creators of the well-known Nioh and Wo Long: Fallen Dynasty series. The game is inspired by the history of Japan's Bakumatsu era and combines elements reminiscent of Ghost of Tsushima and Assassin's Creed.

The story transports players to the late 19th century, a time of massive change: civil wars, epidemics, and Western influence. You play as a ronin—a masterless warrior who helps people and seeks revenge for his brother's death.

Expect dynamic battles with traditional Japanese weapons and 19th-century firearms, stealth elements, parkour, and tactical planning. In the open world, you can interact with NPCs, make key decisions, and influence the storyline.

Rise of the Ronin has become the most successful game in Team Ninja's history, surpassing even the popular Nioh series.

  • Release Date: September 6, 2024
  • Developer: Team Asobi

Here, players can explore colorful worlds, find collectible items, engage in battles with enemies, and solve a variety of puzzles.

At The Game Awards 2024, the game received the title of "Game of the Year" and won in the categories of "Best Family Game", "Best Adventure Action", and "Best Game Director's Work". These awards highlight the game's quality and its significance to the industry.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach

  • Release Date: 2025
  • Developer: Kojima Productions
  • Download: PlayStation

Death Stranding, released in 2019, became one of Hideo Kojima’s most unusual games. At first glance, the game appears to be a walking simulator, but it presents numerous challenges: selecting appropriate equipment, planning routes, and managing cargo weight balance.

Initially, the combat system seems simple and minimalist, but as players progress, they gain access to new weapons and tactical options, adding depth and tension to the gameplay.

The main feature of the game is the player interaction system. You won't see others directly, but you can utilize their constructions—bridges, ladders, and shelters—to help overcome difficult sections of the path. This invisible exchange creates a sense of camaraderie and support in an empty, harsh world.

Death Stranding 2: On The Beach continues the story of Sam Porter Bridges, once again played by Norman Reedus. He is joined by El Fanning and Shiori Kutsuna, adding new characters to the star-studded cast. The plot delves deeper into themes of human connection and the struggle for survival in a post-apocalyptic world.

The gameplay retains key elements from the first part—exploration, route building, and player interaction—while introducing new features that make the world even more vibrant and interactive.

Death Stranding 2 is scheduled for release in 2025 exclusively for PlayStation 5.

Ghost of Yotei

  • Release Date: 2025
  • Developer: Sucker Punch Productions
  • Download: PlayStation

At the September 2024 State of Play presentation, Sucker Punch Productions, known for the iconic Ghost of Tsushima, unveiled their new project. The sequel transports players to a different region and era while maintaining the recognizable style and atmosphere of the original.

The game's events take place on the island of Hokkaido in the early 17th century, 300 years after the events of Tsushima. The Yotei region, with its snowy mountains, dense forests, and vast steppes, promises to be just as picturesque and captivating. The main heroine is the deadly assassin Atsu, driven by a thirst for revenge and a desire to restore justice.

The gameplay retains signature features: a combat system with traditional Japanese weapons and stealth elements. New mechanics, such as firearms, will be added to make battles even more dynamic and varied.

The project is scheduled for release in 2025 exclusively for PlayStation 5.

While plot details remain under wraps, it is known that the story will explore the complex life and character of James "Logan" Howlett, better known as Wolverine.

The dynamic third-person action will focus on close combat. In fierce battles, players will be able to use Wolverine's signature claws, his superhuman reflexes, and regenerative abilities.

The game is set to release exclusively for PlayStation 5, though the exact release date has not yet been announced.

At The Game Awards 2024 ceremony, Naughty Dog unveiled their new project—Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet. Neil Druckmann stated that this science fiction adventure would be one of the studio's boldest and most creative stories.

The action takes place in the distant future on the isolated planet Sempiria, cut off from the rest of the universe for over 600 years. The main heroine, Jordan A. Mun, is an experienced bounty hunter who must unravel the mysteries of the enigmatic planet and find a way to leave it.

In addition to the already released and announced games, PlayStation has exclusives that remain under wraps. However, Sony may delight us with new announcements and surprise us with fresh projects as early as next year, though for now, we can only speculate.
