Jungle Minecraft birds: the art of taming parrots

How to tame a parrot in Minecraft?

First, I must say that the task won’t be easy. We’re about to embark on the hunt for one of the most difficult creatures to tame in the game! Moreover, finding a parrot is also no simple feat — you’ll need to sweat it out and venture into the jungle.

Yes, that’s right — the bright bird resides only here, among the tall trees, vines, moisture, and heat. This biome can be quite dangerous for a novice, but at the same time, the jungle is incredibly beautiful!

It’s here, in this ocean of foliage, that we’ll find the parrot. These birds live on trees or grass blocks, but don’t think the jungle is teeming with colorful feathered creatures. Parrots only reside above Y-level 70 (70 blocks above sea level).

Once you’ve located your target, it’s time to start taming. Previously, you could tame the bird using cookies, but the developers removed that option. Why? It turns out chocolate is toxic to birds! For this reason, you can now tame a parrot in Minecraft using melon seeds, beetroot seeds, pumpkin seeds, or wheat seeds.

After successfully taming the bird, it can even perch on your character’s shoulder! Of course, the parrot isn’t just for decoration. It can mimic the sounds of nearby creatures within a 20-block radius. Such a pet makes an excellent alarm system!

How to breed parrots in Minecraft?

Unfortunately, you won’t be able to create a home aviary. For now, the game only features adult parrots, which means no baby birds. The only clever way is to use a parrot egg, but it’s only available in Creative mode. However, this doesn’t stop players from switching to Creative mode, creating a flock of birds, and then switching back to Survival mode.
