Split Fiction is a new co-op game from the creators of the famous It Takes Two, which continues to gain popularity among players. This title promises to be just as memorable as its predecessor. From sci-fi to fantasy and racing, this game has something for everyone. In this article, we'll tell you what’s best to do before and during the game.

Check the System Requirements

Before purchasing the game, make sure your PC can run it. Here are the minimum system requirements provided by the developers:

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 10/11
  • Processor: Intel Core i5-6600K or AMD Ryzen 5 2600X
  • Memory: 16 GB
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce GTX 970 4GB or Radeon RX 470 - 4GB
  • DirectX: 12
  • Storage Space: 85 GB

And here are the recommended specifications:

  • OS: 64-bit Windows 10/11
  • Processor: Intel Core i7-11700K or AMD Ryzen 7 5800X
  • Memory: 16 GB RAM
  • Graphics: NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3070 - 8GB or AMD Radeon 6700 XT - 12GB
  • DirectX: 12
  • Storage Space: 85 GB

In some cases, the game may run on a system slightly below the minimum requirements. However, there's no guarantee that it will maintain at least 25-30 FPS, which is needed for a somewhat smooth experience.

Adjust Graphics Settings

Right after the game compiles shaders and launches for the first time, we recommend tweaking the graphics settings. Of course, this depends on your PC's specs, but here are some settings to help balance quality and performance.

The first setting to adjust is shadow quality. At maximum settings, the game will run 20% slower, while at high settings, it will be only 10% slower compared to the lowest quality. Therefore, this is the first thing you need to adjust to improve performance. The visual loss will be minimal, but the FPS boost will be significant.

Another important setting is detail quality, which determines the complexity and number of objects displayed. Choosing "ultra-high" slows the game by just 10% compared to the lowest setting, so setting it to "high" is a good compromise between visuals and performance.

The last setting that significantly affects FPS is shader quality. It affects the level of realistic landscape rendering and the external shadows on objects. At the maximum, Split Fiction runs 23% slower, and at high settings, it runs 10-12% slower compared to medium settings. Therefore, lowering it also makes sense.

Experiment with these settings before fully diving into the game. You might be able to improve performance on your device without sacrificing much visual quality.

If you’re playing on a low-end PC and experiencing lag, we recommend setting all graphics options to the lowest. While the visuals won’t be as impressive, it ensures smooth gameplay and prevents you from slowing down your co-op partner.

Keybindings and Mouse Sensitivity

If you're not playing with a controller, don’t forget to adjust mouse sensitivity. By default, the game has relatively low sensitivity and slow camera movement, so it's better to tweak these settings at the beginning of the game.

Also, check the keybindings. By default, sprinting is assigned to the "V" key, which might be inconvenient if you're used to a different button. If you decide to rebind it, don’t forget about dash, which is set to "Shift" — changing this can make certain in-game actions more difficult.

Game Lore and Hidden Content

Although the main path is usually clear, the game features six special benches where you can sit to unlock additional dialogues for the protagonists, as well as side stories with unique bosses.

We recommend listening to the characters and not rushing forward too quickly. Exploring thoroughly from the start is better than watching a lore recap later and realizing you missed something important.

Character Selection and Switching

While you can choose your character at the beginning, you can switch at any time if you're struggling with a particular section. Simply return to the main menu and restart the game — each time you enter, you can select a different hero. Keep in mind that each character plays a distinct role in the game, meaning the gameplay experience will vary. If you ever get bored, switching characters is a great way to add variety.
