Venturing into the vast and immersive world of Minecraft will eventually guide every player to the remnants of a long-lost stronghold, concealing a mysterious portal to another dimension. Yet, gaining access to these otherworldly realms requires the elusive eye of Ender — an essential item that’s not only challenging to craft but also puzzling to acquire if you're unfamiliar with the process.
Understanding how to gather its components and create this key to the unknown is crucial for any adventurer seeking to conquer the game's most formidable challenges.
In this article, we’ll explain everything about this special item: where to find the components, how to craft it, and how to use it.
How to make the eye of Ender in Minecraft?
This unique item can only be crafted, as it does not appear naturally in the world. Its main function is to activate the portal to the End, a dimension where the dragon resides. However, it has a few other uses, which we will discuss later. So, how do you craft an eye of Ender?
To do this, the player will need:
- blaze powder;
- Ender pearl.
To find the first item, the character must descend into the Nether and find a fortress where several Blazes reside. Blazes drop blaze rods, which can be used to create the necessary powder.
In the fiery world, you can also find Endermen, which have a high spawn rate, especially in the Warped Forest biome. Ender Pearls drop from these mobs with a 50% chance, but there are other ways to obtain this ingredient: finding it in fortress chests, trading with a villager, or exchanging it with Piglins for gold items.
Finally, when all the ingredients are gathered, the gamer can craft an eye of Ender at the crafting table or in the inventory crafting window, placing the resources as shown in the picture.
Great! Now you can use it, and we’ll explain how below.
How is the eye of Ender utilized?
The main function of the Eye of Ender is to help players locate and activate the portal leading to the End dimension. To uncover the stronghold that houses the gateway to this alternate realm, players must hold the Eye of Ender in their hand and use it by right-clicking. Upon activation, the eye of Ender soars through the air, guiding the player toward the nearest stronghold with precise accuracy, revealing the hidden location of this crucial teleportation point.
It then hovers in the air for a few seconds and falls to the ground. The player can pick it up and use it again, although there is a chance it might disappear. When the portal is directly below the player, the item will fall immediately upon use. If this happens, start digging down, explore the abandoned ruins, and find the portal to the other dimension!
At this point, the gamer will need several Eyes of Ender, but no more than 12. There's a small chance that some of these items are already installed. To activate this teleportation point, the player must fill the blocks as shown in the picture.
Excellent! Now you can teleport to the End and face the dragon. However, it’s important to remember that the way home will only open after defeating the flying boss.
Other uses for the eye of Ender
If desired, the player can use this item to create an Ender Chest. The unique feature of this block is that it functions as a shared storage for items. This means the contents of all Ender Chests on the map are the same. This is useful when you need to carry a lot of resources but don’t want to place them in your inventory. To craft it, you will need:
- 1 eye of Ender;
- 8 obsidian.
Additionally, the player can create an end crystal using:
- 1 eye of Ender;
- 1 ghast Tear;
- 7 glass.
The mysterious dark crystal can only be placed on obsidian and bedrock, and if the dragon is alive, it restores its health. Moreover, if the player places 4 of these blocks on the exit portal from the dark dimension, the boss will be resurrected.
We hope you enjoyed our guide and that you were able to craft the eye of Ender in Minecraft and use it effectively.
