On the night of September 12–13, Valve released a major patch for the closed beta of Deadlock. The update covers many aspects of the game, so here’s a rundown of the most important changes:

  • Matchmaking is now available 24/7 without restrictions.
  • An improved mini-map with updated icons has been added.
  • A player behavior tracking system has been introduced. Offenders may temporarily lose access to certain features such as matchmaking, chats, pausing, or the ability to file complaints.
  • A low-priority matchmaking mode has been implemented, targeting offenders, particularly those who intentionally leave matches before they are completed.
  • Numerous UI changes have been made, including updates to the score table.
  • Overall game performance has been improved.
  • Multiple changes have been made to balance items and heroes.
  • New players will now only be matched with other beginners until they secure four wins.

By mid-September 2024, Deadlock’s player count stopped growing. On September 10, the maximum daily player count reached 115,000, which was 18,000 less than the previous week.

Deadlock is still in early development, and access to the MOBA-shooter is available by invitation from other players. Valve has not yet announced a potential release date for the game.
