This is a record for the Valve platform. Game Science Studio title has achieved the most successful launch for a single-player game in the platform's history. The previous record was held for nearly four years by Cyberpunk 2077, which had a peak of over 1.054 million players on its release day.

Black Myth: Wukong reached this milestone largely due to interest from audiences in Asia. The action-adventure is based on the classic Chinese novel Journey to the West and tells the story of the Monkey King, who becomes the Destined One and embarks on a journey full of trials and wonders.

The game has also entered the top 5 on Steam for peak concurrent players of all time. The only titles above it in the chart are online games: Counter-Strike 2, Palworld, and PUBG: Battlegrounds.
