In the game industry, there are often projects that try to swim out on the success of popular games. But Wukong Sun: Black Legend attracts not just by inspiration, but by copying some elements. The visual style, the main character with a staff and the plot description look like a direct tracing from the hit Game Science.
The game is available for pre-order on the US eShop, but its future is in question. Given the obvious elements of plagiarism, Game Science may file a copyright infringement lawsuit and have the project removed from the platform.
The description for Wukong Sun: Black Legend states: “Embark on an epic journey to the West. Try on the role of the immortal Wukong, the legendary Monkey King, fighting for order in a chaotic world full of powerful monsters and deadly dangers. Explore a story inspired by Chinese mythology, with intense battles, impressive locations and legendary enemies.”
Black Myth instead is an epic adventure based on Chinese mythology. Who would have thought that an RPG from a small Chinese studio would become so popular, crashing Steam charts. Black Myth: Wukong offers an incredible level of detail, engaging gameplay, and battles that require skills. Yes, it won't be easy, as part of it is a souls-like genre, but it will be very easy for newcomers to get into.
The combat system and progression here do not make you read dozens of guides, yet make you think. It should be noted that visually, the battles are incredibly beautiful thanks to smooth animations. The main strength of the project lies in its setting and visual design. You will enter a real fairy tale, and it will be very hard to detach from it, as the character design and the world's beauty are stunning. According to gamers, Black Myth: Wukong should have received the "Game of the Year 2024" nomination at the TGA.
