After Stellar Blade had joined the libraries of gamers across the globe, NieR: Automata once again returned to the spotlight. Hyung-Tae Kim, Stellar Blade director, told everyone that NieR: Automata was his inspiration. Kim was fascinated by many components and nuances.

Interestingly, Yoko Taro, the main person behind NieR:Automata, returned the favor, admitting Stellar Blade overtook his game. He mentioned next-gen graphics and praised the design of both main and secondary characters.

However, we have one more revelation from Yoko Taro. He also credits the legendary anime Neon Genesis Evangelion as the primary source of inspiration. This iconic work of Hideaki Anno is arguably the most influential title in the history of anime, and it's impact is impossible to describe in several sentences.

Moreover, Yoko Taro calls the story of his game the retelling of Eva. Ideas tend to repeat from time to time. Each generation should have its story, especially with cool robots and victories over depression.
