The PlayStation Portal handheld is experiencing surging demand in the US. According to market research firm Circana, supply is failing to meet the high level of interest from American gamers.

Lead Circana analyst Mat Piscatella acknowledged the company underestimated the console's popularity. He stated that the device is selling better than anticipated, with demand outstripping supply for several months. While exact sales figures remain undisclosed, Piscatella noted the results are positive considering the limited supply. He added that while PS Portal sales aren't record-breaking, they are impressive given the constrained availability.

Sony previously confirmed that demand for the PlayStation Portal exceeded their expectations. The company stated that the response to the console's announcement was anticipated as the device was initially intended to meet the specific needs of a particular group of players, not the mass market.
