Unfortunately, today is a truly sad day for the gaming industry. Heartbreaking news has come from Massive Monster, the studio behind Cult of the Lamb: Narayana Johnson, known by his alias River Boy, has passed away.

Johnson served as the Audio Director and composer for the game. In indie projects, every team member’s contribution carries immense weight—and River Boy’s work was a core part of what made Cult of the Lamb resonate so deeply with players.
The developers emphasized that his music became an inseparable part of the game’s soul, and that Johnson himself was someone who truly wanted to share his music with the world.
In River Boy’s memory, the team at Massive Monster asked fans to take a moment in nature, feel the earth beneath them, and listen once more to the music he created. They also shared that they’ll need some time and support to process the loss.
Our deepest condolences go out to River Boy’s family, friends, the Massive Monster team, and all the fans of the game who were touched by his work.
