The biggest news of the day is undoubtedly the ban of TikTok in the USA. However, aside from the content platform itself, games whose publishers are linked to ByteDance, the owner of TikTok, have also come under fire.
We’ve already covered how this ban has impacted Marvel Snap, the collectible card game available on both PC and smartphones. For Marvel Snap, the ban might mean missing out on one or two seasons (we doubt the ban will last more than a month or two). It’s inconvenient, but not a major issue in the long term.
The ban on Mobile Legends: Bang Bang, however, is a more significant problem. While the North American scene is not a global leader, the daily grind is a norm in esports, and a forced break will set back the region's overall level. Moreover, the fate of North American leagues remains uncertain, though Moonton does have some time—most professional leagues are scheduled to start in March.
Mobile Legends: Bang Bang is a mobile esports game with massive popularity in Southeast Asia, with viewership for the M6 World Championship rivaling only a select few tournaments in numbers.
