Netflix is commemorating the success of Squid Game: Unleashed, its mobile game. The game, which is already among the top five most popular projects on the streaming behemoth, has gained even more traction with the premiere of the second season of the show.
Released on December 17, 2024, Squid Game: Unleashed, inspired by the popular TV series, has already garnered 10.7 million downloads. The data was provided by AppMagic, an analytics platform that tracks mobile app downloads and revenue statistics.
The game offers users to experience challenges familiar from the show, as well as new modes based on classic children's games. The game's release coincided with the launch of the show's second season, which undoubtedly increased audience interest.
Squid Game: Unleashed has already taken the fifth place among the most popular Netflix games. The leader remains GTA: San Andreas with 33.8 million downloads. The majority of downloads of the new hit came from the App Store (7.4 million), while Google Play accounted for 3.3 million installations.
The largest number of players of the mobile “Squid Game” is in the United States (1.8 million downloads), followed by Brazil, Mexico and India. The popularity peaked on January 4, when 1.6 million downloads were registered in a day.
What makes Squid Game: Unleashed special is that the game is available to all users for free, unlike other Netflix mobile games that require a subscription. This strategy apparently helped attract a wide range of players.
