The findings of a significant survey assessing brand reach across seven media platforms have been made public by marketing agency GEM Partners. Pokémon ranked first in the annual ranking with 65,578 points.

The ranking is based on “reach score,” a unique index that measures the daily number of people who interact with a brand's content through apps, games, music, videos and manga. The survey was conducted monthly among 100,000 people aged 15 to 69 living in Japan.

Pokémon dominated the App Games category with a score of 50,546 points, accounting for 80% of the total score. The popularity of Pokémon GO and the recent release of DeNA's Pokémon Trading Card Game Pocket played a key role in the success. Pokémon earned 11,619 and 2,728 points in the Home Video and Video categories, respectively. Collaborative campaigns, such as the collaboration with Mister Donut, and the growing popularity of collectible card games have also helped expand the brand's reach.

The Pokémon Company's 2024 financial report confirms the franchise's growth, with sales totaling 297.58 billion yen and gross profit of 152.23 billion yen. These figures emphasize Pokémon's status as one of the most successful and fastest-growing brands in Japan.

The Pokémon franchise includes video games, animated series and movies, card games and other media products. It is jointly operated by three companies, Nintendo, Game Freak and Creatures, which formed The Pokémon Company in 1998 to coordinate all brand operations.
