Yesterday, the outlet Nexus Point News published supposedly exclusive information about a film adaptation of Elden Ring, but the material mysteriously vanished a few hours after publication.

According to the deleted reports, the movie was to be produced by A24, with Alex Garland—known for writing 28 Days Later—attached as director. The alleged start date for filming was set for 2026. However, after the news spread rapidly online, the original source disappeared without a trace, offering no explanation.

The dubious report was first picked up by well-known insider Wario64 (1 million followers on X), who regularly shares gaming industry news as soon as it surfaces. Journalists from The Verge reached out to him for clarification. He explained that his repost was prompted by a discussion on the ResetEra forum, where someone had vouched for Nexus Point News' reliability: "I shared it precisely because the whole idea seemed ridiculous to me, lol". After the original article vanished, Wario64 deleted his tweet linking to it.

The Verge also attempted to obtain comments from representatives of Nexus Point News and A24. NPN's editor-in-chief responded to the inquiry within two minutes but declined to provide any explanation. A24 likewise remained silent. Notably, no one at The Verge had ever heard of NPN before, let alone considered it a credible source. Meanwhile, ResetEra's moderators swiftly locked the thread discussing the news: "It's amazing how a site no one's heard of manages to have so many 'exclusives'".
