The release of the Minecraft movie has brought more than just pixelated adventure to theaters — it’s sparked chaotic celebrations among fans. Videos showing shouting, popcorn flying, and wild crowd energy have gone viral, with some screenings even requiring police presence due to the disorder.
While some might see this as disruptive, director Jared Hess embraces the madness. He says he’s constantly watching clips of fans reacting, especially to scenes like “CHICKEN JOCKEY!” and praises the passion fans are showing. To him, it’s all part of the fun.
“I think it’s hilarious. Just people yelling, throwing popcorn — and then police show up? That’s wild,” Hess said. Rather than scolding the crowd, he laughs along, appreciating the spontaneous moments and community energy.
Hess sees these lively screenings as proof of the film’s impact. “Seeing people stand on chairs, cheer, and enjoy themselves — that’s amazing. I love that the movie brings people together,” he added with a smile.
