Out of all big traditional sports leagues in North America, Major League Baseball faces the demo problem the hardest and it is unsurprising that clubs are trying something new and unusual.

On July 5, Los Angeles Dodgers faced Milwaukee Brewers. This game was branded as the Hololive Night as three of the most popular hololive VTubers, Gawr Gura, Usada Pekora and Hoshimachi Suisei were present at the Dodgers Stadium and there was a unique merch sold at the arena.

The date is not random, as it was the thirtieth birthday of Shotei Ohtani, the superstar player from Japan. Also, Anime Expo 2024 was also in Los Angeles that weekend. So it was obvious that there will be new faces in the arena.

Perhaps the most viral moment happened in the seventh inning. During the traditional seventh-inning stretch (a pause between halves of innings), Gawr Gura sang the traditional song "Take me out to the ball game". After that, the Dodgers, who were losing 4:5, managed to come back and win the match.

The only problem during the match was that merch was sold only in one place at the arena, and the club wasn't ready for such a demand. As a result, not all people could buy Hololive x LA Dodgers t-shirts. While it is something to improve, let's hope such collab will be happening more often.
