Ditto is a quirky Pokémon with the unique ability to transform. This makes it quite challenging to capture since it can be anywhere! In our article, we’ll discuss the characteristics of the elusive creature and provide some tips and recommendations for hunting the character.
Why is it difficult to catch Ditto in Pokémon GO?
Firstly, players have no way to know where a blob is currently located. Due to the distinctive ability to take on another form (in the original games and anime, it could even disguise itself as objects), finding the character in the natural state is impossible.
Additionally, Ditto in Pokémon GO has a very low catch rate. Niantic developers have not specified this, but player experiences suggest that catching the blob with two small dots is quite difficult.
Where can the unusual creature be hiding? Let's find out.
Pokémon GO Ditto disguises
Ditto changes its disguise a few times a year. Currently, the Pokémon is hiding under the guise of several creatures:
- Bergmite;
- Bidoof;
- Goldeen;
- Gothita;
- Koffing;
- Numel;
- Oddish;
- Rhyhorn;
- Solosis;
- Spinarak;
- Stufful.
If you encounter any of these, catch them right away, as Ditto might be disguised as one of them! Unfortunately, you can only find out if you've caught the right one at the last moment when the screen shows the name:
The tricky fighter can disguise itself as a Shiny Pokémon, but this does not guarantee a Shiny Ditto. The gaming community believes the chance of catching a lucky version of the character is 1 in 64.
Recommendations for catching Ditto
To add this rare Pokémon to collection as quickly as possible, use Incense + Daily Adventure Incense to attract nearby heroes. The more creatures in which Ditto can hide, the higher the chances of a successful hunt. Also, use Lure Modules. These work similarly to Incense but have a limited range around a Pokéstop. Rainy + Mossy variants are particularly useful, as they attract Spinarak and Oddish, respectively.
We hope our guide helps you catch Ditto.
