Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 release date
The release date of the project was postponed several times. Initially the game was supposed to be released in 2024, but the development was delayed, so the release was moved to February 11, 2025. Subsequently, the studio Warhorse changed this decision and moved the release to February 4, 2025.
According to the head of development Daniel Vavra, the date was changed in order for gamers to “start 2025 with the best game at once”. However, it seems much more likely that the creators of Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 simply wanted to avoid competition with Asssassin's Creed Shadows, which was originally supposed to be released on February 14.

Game Plot
The main story will be linear. That means that you should not expect a constant branching of the plot and a lot of endings. At the same time, the developers promise that the side quests will please players with variability - each of them can be completed in several ways, which will lead to different outcomes.
The main character has not changed. We will still control Indřich (aka Henry) from Skalica - the son of a blacksmith, who by chance was dragged into harsh adventures. It is reported that in the sequel he will undergo some kind of transformation, which can be influenced by the players themselves.
The game continues the events of the first part. And it will start exactly from the moment where the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance ended.
It is not necessary to go through the original. The story of the first part will be retold in detail at the very beginning of the second part, so players who are not familiar with Kingdom Come: Deliverance will not feel left out.
The story will become larger and darker. If the first part told a more localized story, the second part will go to the level of entire states and their rulers. It is reported that players are waiting for a lot of unexpected twists and cruel details.
The central place of action will be Kuttenberg. The city was repeatedly mentioned in the original Kingdom Come: Deliverance, but in the sequel it will be shown in all its glory for the first time. The developers assure that the players are waiting for a huge location, populated by dozens of interesting characters.
Many characters from the first part will return. Which ones, we won't tell you - we want to save you from spoilers.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Gameplay
The basis of gameplay in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 has not changed dramatically compared to the first part. However, there are still some curious innovations and improvements.
The progression will be varied. At least, more diverse than in the original. You can become a hard-headed warrior, cunning robber or eloquent diplomat. In this case, no one forbids to combine different skill branches.
Battles will become easier. The updated combat system is described as “less jerky” and much more enjoyable. It will be easier for newcomers to get used to it, but at the same time it won't become completely casual.
You'll be able to talk in combat. For example, to make the enemy surrender or to shout your battle cry to raise the spirit. In addition, they promise an advanced system of negotiations outside of battles - you will be able to talk to almost any NPC in the open world.
It will be possible to have an affair. Insiders report that there are more romantic interests than in the first part, but the development of the corresponding line with them will require serious efforts.
Firearms will emerge. Both deadly and unstable at the same time. According to the developers, with a high degree of probability the gun will burst in Indřich's hands and cause him much more damage than the enemy. In general, the firearm is described as an auxiliary weapon - with its help you can effectively start a fight, but in the heat of battle it is inconvenient to use it.
The reputation and morality system will become “smarter”. All the characters around the protagonist will look at his actions and instantly react to them - and they will be able to notice even subtle changes, like drops of blood on his clothes. Therefore, players will need to think about their actions in advance.
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Key Details
Other elements of the game that are worth paying attention to.
Size
According to the developers, Kingdom Come: Deliverance sequel will be about twice as big as the first part. This applies to the size of locations and the number of characters with available quests. According to Warhorse Studios, seven years ago they couldn't release their “dream game” because of small budgets and limited number of employees in the studio. The sequel will attempt to close that gestalt.
Game Director
Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2's development is being led by Daniel Vavra, a legend in the Czech game industry. Gamers may know him from his work on the first and second parts of Mafia, for which Vavra wrote the script, created game mechanics and organized workflows. On the Kingdom Come sequel, he serves not only as a supervisor, but also as a lead writer.
Scandals
Even before the release, the project managed to become part of hot discussions on the network. For example, it was banned for sale in Saudi Arabia - reportedly due to the presence of “immoral scenes”. Details are not disclosed, but users have already managed to find out that the game will feature black characters and intimate scenes between members of the same sex.
Average score
After a few dozen evaluations, Kingdom Come Deliverance 2's average score on Metacritic is 88 out of 100; on OpenCritic it's 89 points and 96% recommend playing.
Many publications give high scores to KCD 2 and note that the sequel is better than the first part in every aspect, the developers improved the combat system, offered a more intense and deep adventure in the medieval world, the game is friendlier to newcomers, but still retained hardcore. Praised and side quests, sometimes drawing comparisons with The Witcher 3 Wild Hunt.
However, they also noted visual flaws and bugs; not everyone is satisfied with the slow pace of the game and dialog options are not always obvious, so you may get “unexpected answers”.
