Ubisoft is a legend in the gaming industry, bringing us unforgettable adventures, epic battles, and worlds in which you can lose yourself for tens of hours. But, oddly enough, even giants face tough times.

Currently, the company is struggling: stocks are falling, and on the horizon looms the Chinese gaming giant Tencent, poised to become a key player in Ubisoft’s future.

Nevertheless, despite all this, the company has many masterpieces that still remain in the hearts of players. Let’s talk about the best of them.

Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag

  • Release date: October 29, 2013
  • Developer: Ubisoft Montreal
  • Download: Steam

The narrow streets gave way to the expanses of warm azure seas, and this literally saved the entire series. Black sails, endless seas, epic naval battles, and sword duels — that's why Black Flag is loved.

This is the game where you want to get lost among the islands of the Caribbean, search for treasure, and fight empires for freedom.

Fans appreciate the game for its open world, naval battles, and the chance to be a real pirate. In the end, AC IV became more than just a continuation of the franchise: it turned into a true life simulator of a buccaneer.

Assassin's Creed Valhalla

  • Release date: November 10, 2020
  • Developer: Ubisoft Montreal
  • Download: Steam

One of Ubisoft’s flagship titles, still selling in large numbers today. This doesn’t surprise me, as the rewards are well deserved. In my opinion, Valhalla became the most diverse and interesting project in the series.

Time to become a Viking! The open world is full of mysteries and opportunities, and the plot is saturated with political intrigues, raids, and the fate of entire kingdoms. Ubisoft knows how to create epic historical games, and Valhalla is one of their best achievements.

Why else do we love this title? Of course, for the dynamic combat system, which has become even better, the opportunity to build and develop your settlement, and the rich Scandinavian mythology. Okay, the main reason — Viking raids in the best traditions.

Far Cry 3

  • Release date: November 29, 2012
  • Developer: Ubisoft Montreal
  • Download: Steam

Back in the day, Ubisoft was one of the benchmarks of quality for me, and their Far Cry 3 became a benchmark among first-person shooters. What was really cool was that here you are not a cool special agent or a soldier, but an ordinary guy who has to survive at any cost.

Fortunately, this is not just a phrase: the developers literally throw the player into an open world where you can hunt, survive, and explore the island, where every turn brings new danger.

What? Okay, okay, I haven’t forgotten. Of course, the project introduced us to Vaas Montenegro — one of the most charismatic video game villains.

Far Cry 5

  • Release date: March 27, 2018
  • Developer: Ubisoft Montreal
  • Download: Steam

Montana, a religious cult, and epic battles with fanatics — Far Cry 5 takes the series to a new level. This isn’t just an epic and fun action project, but a whole story about fighting the ideology of a religious cult. Yes, in terms of narrative, Far Cry has changed, and the fifth title in the franchise became more insane. Seriousness gave way to humor, a shovel-gun, a death truck, and a tame bear. Seriousness? Almost none, but the gameplay is incredibly fun.

The mechanics are all here, but survival is much less (practically nonexistent). Everything turned into a fun, fast-paced shooter where something happens every minute.

And there's also a charismatic villain — Joseph Seed. You’ll be surprised, but this creepy guy almost dethroned Vaas!

Watch Dogs 2

  • Release date: November 15, 2016
  • Developer: Ubisoft Montreal
  • Download: Steam

The global network is a scary thing, and Watch Dogs 2 shows it in full glory. In San Francisco, you take on the role of Marcus Holloway, a talented hacker fighting against a corporation that uses technology to control people.

The plot is inspiring, and the gameplay offers many ways to interact with the world through hacking abilities. Players appreciate the game for its freedom of action, fun group of heroes, and vibrant open world. Watch Dogs 2 makes you feel like a real cyber-rebel.

Ghost Recon Breakpoint

  • Release date: October 4, 2019
  • Developer: Ubisoft Paris
  • Download: Steam

Brutal combat on Auroa Island, reconnaissance, survival, and teamwork — Ghost Recon Breakpoint captivates with its realism. The project offers a vast array of tactical options where every decision could be key to survival.

If desired, you can set up truly hardcore gameplay, where it’s important not only to shoot accurately but also to think ahead. A deep weapon modification system and cooperative mode give players the chance to feel like elite soldiers.

Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time

  • Release date: October 28, 2003
  • Developer: Ubisoft Montreal
  • Download: Steam

It’s hard to forget the moment when the Prince stepped into a new world with the Sands of Time. The combination of acrobatics, combat, and sand magic made The Sands of Time one of the best games of the era. Time control added a novelty that still feels fresh.

Players love the title for its dynamism, puzzles, and impressive acrobatics. The story of the Prince battling the demons of the past has become a true classic.

The Division 2

The Division 2Image: store.steampowered.com

  • Release date: March 15, 2019
  • Developer: Massive Entertainment
  • Download: Steam

Washington, D.C., engulfed in chaos after a global pandemic, becomes the setting for an ongoing struggle for survival. In The Division 2, players take on the role of an agent fighting various factions controlling the ruins of the capital. Why is this project on the list? Essentially, it's an MMORPG, where much is decided through communication and coordinated raid completion.

The key feature is, of course, the loot system. There’s a lot of gear and weapons here. Division 2 is a game about survival in the heart of a destroyed world, and you’ll want to return again and again to grow stronger and gather more loot. More loot!

Valiant Hearts: The Great War

  • Release date: June 25, 2014
  • Developer: Ubisoft Montpellier
  • Download: Steam

If you’ve ever wondered how titles can tell the story of World War I through the lens of human stories, Valiant Hearts answers that question perfectly. It’s a touching story of people whose lives intertwine during the years of brutal war. Puzzles, adventure elements, and a visual style reminiscent of comic book art make this project a true gem.

For me, it’s more than just a game. It’s a tale of friendship, loss, and resilience. Valiant Hearts received many awards and the love of the community for its ability to touch the heart and remind us that even in the darkest times, there is room for humanity.

Splinter Cell Blacklist

  • Release date: August 20, 2013
  • Developer: Ubisoft Toronto, Ubisoft Montreal, Ubisoft Shanghai
  • Download: Steam

Perhaps under Tencent's wing, we will see the return of Sam Fisher, but for now, there’s no hope. We’re left to remember the best project in the series — Splinter Cell Blacklist. Players were treated to many spy operations, where not only precise shots but also maximum stealth were important. Freedom of choice is Blacklist’s main asset. You could complete missions relying on stealth, or go in guns blazing (but that’s not the best idea).

At the moment, this is perhaps the best project for stealth game lovers. The charismatic Fisher remains a fan favorite, and we await his return.

Anno 1800

Anno 1800Image: store.steampowered.com

  • Release date: April 16, 2019
  • Developer: Ubisoft Blue Byte
  • Download: Steam

If you've ever dreamed of building your empire from scratch, Anno 1800 is the title for you. In this strategy, you will build a city, develop trade, establish industry, and create a powerful economy during the Industrial Revolution. Every decision has consequences: build factories near residential areas? Expect worker unrest. Expand into the New World? Prepare resources for long expeditions.

Anno 1800 is rightfully considered the best in the series, with mechanics, economy, and graphics polished to perfection. Personally, I fell in love with this project for its incredible atmosphere, and for me, it’s one of the most beautiful strategies in the industry.

Rainbow Six Siege

  • Release date: December 1, 2015
  • Developer: Ubisoft Montreal
  • Download: Steam

Here is a modern-day online shooter legend. Rainbow Six Siege is a tactical shooter where every mistake can cost the team victory. Assaults, ambushes, traps — every operation in the game requires precise teamwork, so solo players will find it tough here.

Of course, the variety of tactics is possible thanks to the rich selection of operators with unique abilities. Though the latest added hero caused a storm of complaints, the project continues to evolve under Ubisoft's updated direction.

One way or another, Rainbow Six Siege set a high bar for the industry early on. The flexibility and multifaceted gameplay make each match unpredictable.

Beyond Good and Evil

  • Release date: November 11, 2003
  • Developer: Ubisoft Pictures, Ubisoft Milan
  • Download: Steam

Beyond Good and Evil is one of those projects that was ahead of its time. The story of the journalist Jade, investigating government conspiracies on the planet Hillys, is filled with deep philosophical questions. This isn’t just an adventure game, but an interactive quest with a strong storyline.

The title boasts a unique visual style, memorable characters, and a dark atmosphere of a futuristic world. Despite its commercial failure at launch, the game eventually became a cult classic, and Ubisoft even planned a sequel, but… it seems we won’t see it anytime soon.

Child of Light

  • Release date: April 30, 2014
  • Developer: Ubisoft Montreal
  • Download: Steam

We cannot overlook another masterpiece—Child of Light. Like Valiant Hearts, this project has a unique charm, and it reminds me of a living fairy tale. This is the story of a girl named Aurora, who embarks on a journey in the magical world of Lemuria to bring back the sun, moon, and stars. The title combines a fairy-tale plot, watercolor graphics, and a unique turn-based combat system. The visual style is stunning, and the music perfectly complements the atmosphere.

In general, the project was created with heart and love, which critics quickly noted. The game received many awards, as Child of Light is a journey that touches the soul, and it rightfully became one of Ubisoft’s achievements.

Rayman Legends

  • Release date: August 29, 2013
  • Developer: Ubisoft Montpellier
  • Download: Steam

We’ll end with the best title for a group of friends. Rayman Legends is a colorful platformer where every location is a work of art. A wonderful soundtrack, dynamic levels, and incredibly fun co-op make this project unforgettable.

Once again, a small game with soul became a favorite among fans and critics alike. The project received awards for its creative levels, memorable music, and fun atmosphere.

Ubisoft has given us many iconic games that remain in the hearts of players worldwide. We will forever remember the fun in Far Cry 3, the freedom of pirate life in Black Flag, and the touching story of Valiant Hearts. Despite the company’s current struggles, its legacy remains powerful and important for the entire modern gaming industry.
