Minecraft knowledge: everything you need to know about creating a shovel

Greetings, my square friends! What do you think should be in every adventurer's inventory? Perhaps a sword? A potion to restore HP? No! The most important thing in Minecraft is resource gathering. Therefore, to collect valuable materials in the game, there are many tools, and they should always be with you.

At the very beginning of the journey, when Steve’s cubic hands are still empty, you can make do with your fists. With sweat and effort, you can gather wood, dirt, and various small items like flowers. However, that’s not enough. If you persistently try to punch stones with your fists, you’ll end up with nothing but wasted time and injuries. Or, for instance, sand. For certain purposes, you’ll need a lot of it, but you can’t collect it with an axe. For that, you need a shovel.

In one of my guides, I already explained how to create a pickaxe. It's an essential tool for mining, but even underground, there are resources that a pickaxe can’t collect. Here, you’ll need another tool — a shovel. With it, you can quickly gather dirt, snow, clay, and sand, so let's get crafting without delay.

How do I make a shovel in Minecraft?

For your first shovel, you’ll need resources that can be gathered by hand. Of course, I’m talking about wood. You’ll need 2 sticks and 1 block of planks for crafting. Prepare your hands for hard work and go chop down an unfortunate tree.

If sticks don’t appear, you can craft them yourself. Naturally, the resource and the shovel itself are created using a crafting table. For more details on how to create the most important item in Minecraft, read this guide. Now, place 2 blocks of planks in the crafting grid.

Done. It’s time to make your first shovel. Place 2 sticks and 1 wooden plank in the slots.
