Warzone 2.0 is a shooter that has brought together players from all platforms thanks to its new feature. Now, players on Steam, Battle.net, PlayStation, and Xbox can not only play with those on the same system but also against each other. In this article, we’ll explain what Cross-Play is, show you how to enable it, and highlight several other useful benefits it offers.

What is Cross-Play

This is a system that allows you to play online not only with other console owners but also beyond that. In this way, you can compete with people who are playing the same game, for example, on PlayStation or Xbox. This feature not only increases the number of players within the server but also intensifies the competition among them, as well as their skill levels.Ā

Cross-Play Features in Warzone 2.0

In Season 2 of 2025, Activision made significant changes to the Cross-Play feature. Previously, it could be enabled or disabled throughout the entire game, but now the option to disable it only applies to ranked matches. This means that if you're playing a standard match, you won't be able to turn it off.Ā

How to Enable Cross-Play on PlayStation

Warzone 2.0 is an online-only game, so a PS Plus subscription is not required to play.

To enable this feature, simply go to the "Options" section, then press R1 on your controller, scroll down to "Artwork and Network", enter that menu, and select "Enable Cross-Play". Confirm the changes and close the settings.Ā

Your matchmaking wait time will be significantly reduced, and now you can enjoy the game even more!

Note: At the time of writing, the Cross-Play toggle feature is not working on PS5. Although many players report that they are still being matched with PC users, no official statement has yet been released by the developers regarding this issue.

How to Enable Cross-Play on Xbox

On Xbox, the process is a little different, but a subscription is still not required. To enable it here, follow these steps:

  • Open the general settings and click on "Online Safety and Family", then go to Xbox Privacy;
  • Select "View Details and Customize", go to "Communication and Multiplayer", find "Cross-network play", and enable it.

Unlike PlayStation, where you enable this feature for just one game, here you turn it on or off for all your games. This means that if you don’t want Cross-Play in another game, you’ll have to go through this process after each time you exit Warzone 2.0.

How to Enable Cross-Play on PC

On Steam and Battle.net, this feature is enabled by default, meaning you cannot turn it off, unlike console players. Using third-party programs to disable it is also not recommended, unless you want to say goodbye to your gaming account. We remind you that the team at ensigame does not support any third-party tools that are prohibited by the developers.

Now, it's time to talk about the advantages and disadvantages of this feature. Let’s start, of course, with the pros.

Pros

More Players and Shorter Wait Time

As mentioned earlier, this feature significantly increases the number of players on the server, as you can now play not only against console users but also against full-fledged PC users.

Ability to Play With and Against Friends

If your friends don’t have a console or only play on one, and you have a different device, this mode allows you to play with them.

Higher Competition and Skill Level

All servers are merged, meaning the competition for the top spots on the leaderboard is higher. Now, you not only face the people you know, but you also get to play against other unknown players, whose skills you may not yet know.

Cons

However, this mode also has its drawbacks, which we must mention. Let’s talk about them.

Balance

Let’s face it, there’s a huge difference between playing with a mouse and playing with a controller. This creates a so-called balance issue, which, unfortunately, can’t be fixed.

Cheating

Console players have fewer opportunities to exploit third-party programs, meaning there are more cheaters on consoles. Yes, staff continues to actively combat those who like to play unfairly, but the fact remains.
