This past weekend was one of the coolest in 2024 in terms of various esports events. Consider this: in Riyadh, we had the finals of the Esports World Cup for Counter-Strike 2 and Dota 2, while in Las Vegas, over 10,000 players participated in EVO 2024.

However, there's another tournament not to be overlooked. In Allen, Texas, at the Credit Union of Texas Event Center, the Call of Duty World Championship finals took place. Teams competed in Modern Warfare III, making it a triumphant send-off for the game.

At the end of the regular CDL season, we had four favorites: Atlanta FaZe, Toronto Ultra, OpTic Texas, and New York Subliners. FaZe had the best stats, but they ended up in 5th-6th place.

OpTic Texas capitalized well on their opponents' mistakes. They defeated LA Guerillas (3:0), LA Thieves (3:2), and NY Subliners (3:2) to reach the grand final through the upper bracket.

Notably, the grand final was played in a Best-of-9 format, unlike the other Best-of-5 matches. One might have expected a close fight between the teams from Texas and New York, but OpTic simply crushed their opponents 5:1, becoming the Call of Duty World Champions.
