The fighting game scene just got a massive boost. SNK has officially announced the SNK World Championship 2025, and it's making headlines with a whopping $2.5 million prize pool for the newest title of the company, Fatal Fury: City of the Wolves.

The classic franchise is finally back, and after years of waiting, the hype is real. Fans loved the recent beta, and now with this esports push, Fatal Fury is getting a serious spotlight. The $2.5M tournament includes a $1.5M prize for the winner—a bigger grand prize than Capcom Cup’s $1M for Street Fighter 6.
While full event details—like dates, locations, and game lineup—are still under wraps, the FGC is buzzing. Some players are even speculating that top Street Fighter pros may jump ship to compete in Fatal Fury’s fresh and lucrative scene, just like we’ve seen in other esports. However, it is more likely that players in other games will make the transition. We can also assume that this event will not happen during the Esports World Cup, so the Fatal Fury scene gets two huge events in one season.
