Electronic Arts has said that Battlefield 2042 Season 7 will be the last content update. The shooter will continue to receive technical maintenance, in-game challenges, events, and modes, but there will be no more official seasons. Battlefield 2042 was originally planned to have four seasons at launch, but due to fan interest, there have been seven.
The company now plans to focus on the next entry in the series, which is moving out of pre-production. It will be developed in conjunction with Motive Studio (Dead Space Remake) and will feature a narrative campaign set in the "Battlefield Universe". According to the developers, the Battlefield Universe will include both single-player and multiplayer experiences.
General Manager Byron Beede thanked fans for their support of Battlefield 2042. He said he looks forward to sharing more details on the next installment in the franchise.
The Battlefield series has been praised for its realistic graphics, immersive gameplay, and large-scale battles. The games have been a commercial success, with over 80 million copies sold worldwide.
